Guest guest Posted January 24, 2010 Report Share Posted January 24, 2010 One correction: Someone asked if a thoracentesis is when they stick a needle in your lung to draw out fluid. The needle doesn't go into the lung. It goes into the pleural cavity which surrounds the lung. I have had many thoracentesis procedures for pleural effusions when I had ovarian cancer 15 years ago.
