Guest guest
Sherry, Low grade fevers that come and go are a symptom of RA and actually pretty common. I have the same problem myself, particularly if I do too much. You'll likely find that as your improvement progresses, you'll have them less and less. My best advice is that if you feel your temperature rising, it's a signal to have a little rest. Fever is part of the body's natural infection fighting defense, which is not necessarily a bad thing. I was always told by my doctor that if a fever is below 102 degrees and not making you feel miserable, it's better not to treat it because it would help to kill off whatever bug that's being battled. Guest guest
You may want to check out symptoms for Babesiosis which is a tick-born infection seen often with lyme disease. One of the main symptoms is fever and sweats (but I think as that can be a stage of the disease...but in my case it was on and off for years). Guest guest
Dear Sherry, Have you checked out Familial Mediteranean Fever? This is a genetic disorder that can cause all sorts of weird symptoms including bouts of chronic low grade fever. If you want more details I'll send them. Love, Rosemary. rheumatic fever I have been running a low grade to 102 fever off and mostly on for the past few months.. The nurse noticed that everytime I go to my GP I have one and said something to me about it but the doctor didn't mention it at all. I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen as I do not feel ill. A couple of months ago I mentioned it to the doctor and told him I thought I had a sinus infection but he checked and I didn't but I took my grapeseed anyway. It seemed to knock it out and I still think I had one!! Anyway I have been taking my temp daily now and run right around 100 most of the time. It can come and go in the same day. It has been up to 102 on occasion and like I said I don't feel "sick" or anything that I do not normally feel even when it is up high except that I am very cold lately but I also wake up sweating at night I figure that is the fever breaking but it keeps coming back. I have an appointment on June 19th with the neurologist so I guess I will ask him about it since he will have my records when I get there, my GP is lost right about now on what to do with me!! I think I whined so much about spinal tap that he decided not to do it!! That or he forgot and I wasn't going to bring it up! My daughter had an appointment with him so we went in together we had to wait almost 2 hours which is very unusual he didn't charge me for the visit so I didn't worry about it!! If anyone has any ideas let me know... hope you all have a nice day! Guest guest
We saw improvement within the 1st 2 weeks of banding Jenna. It is very possible that Becca is improving. I hope she is feeling better. Angie and Jenna(STAR grad) Fever Hi everyoneBecca had her 6 month check up on Thursday and she got her shoys OUCH!!! She developed a fever on Friday so I kept her band off all day. Do you think that was the best thing to do? She didn't have a fever this morning so I put it back on and she has been fine all day. We go back to ct on Friday for a check up. So far thiongs are foing well she has been banded now about 2 weeks. When did you start seeing improvement. I think I see a little but I don't know if it is my imagination. Would it be possible to see improvement so early? Thanks in advance for the advice.Hope everyone is doing good.Happy Rounding!!!! Guest guest
Hi , You did the right thing. You should always remove her band when she has a fever. It is totally possible that you are seeing improvement in just 2 weeks. This is taken from the Cranial Tech web site: How Quickly Can I See Changes: In children under 5 months of age you should begin to see a change in one week after wearing the band 23 hours a day. In children under 12 months of age you should begin to see a change in two weeks. In children over 12 months of age, you should begin to see a change within two to three weeks. Keep us posted. > Hi everyone > Becca had her 6 month check up on Thursday and she got her shoys > OUCH!!! She developed a fever on Friday so I kept her band off all > day. Guest guest
Thats what we do to. The body creates a fever for a reason. I wouldn;t be so confident about it though if we had ever seen febrile convulsions with high temp. I read once that putting damp socks on will reduce the fever, they need to redampened (is that a word?) frequently. It worked here for a whinging NT Mandi in UK > Ok maybe I have a very different opinion than most concerning fever but if > its under 103 I let them cook and dont try to bring it down. Guest guest
The overlapping of tylenol and motrin is no longer recommended by our pediatrician. Several years ago, they recommended this, then they began telling people NOT to do that. And Woody McGinnis MD, and Owens have both included information in presentations to biomedical conferences stating that an autistic child should NEVER EVER be given Tylenol because it depeletes glutathione and stops sulfation. > you can alternate the tylenol and motrin every two hours if it gets bad > enought hat is what we have to do for a day or two >

Guest guest
Hi Tish, i was told by our tech at CT that as long as my sons fever didn't go any higher than 102 he would be fine. Which that same temp was repeated to me over the phone a second time also. I know others who say about 100 degrees because you don't want the band to make it get any higher. Which i totally agree with, BUT we did leave my sons band on him when it was 102.0 and his temp didn't get any higher. In fact, i think him sweating with it on helped lower it because it was normal 24hr's later. But use your best judgement, you're the mommy and you know your child. If she seems uncomfortable than take it off. But like i said we were told 102, followed it, and had no problems! This was just 2wks ago also. Good luck and go with your gut! Guest guest
Hi... I understand that the fever is usually a sign that I am going to have a flare up. So was the case this week, as Sunday I felt like...well...we all know. I was running a fever, and could barely walk...seems my OA flares up right before I have an RA flare up. I had to take the only RX pain med I tolerate...oxycodone...and attemp to stay off my leg. Luckily my fever didn't go as high...only to 100.5... but still not comfortable...as my normal body temp is 97.3...so it would be like running over a 101 degree temp if you have a normal 98.6 body temp. Monday and Tuesday were no fun as the hip was extremely stiff...and just my luck I had to go grocery shopping and Christmas shopping with my mother in law at Sams and Walmart. I was extremely sore last night and went to my bedroom to lay down before 7 pm. I had ice packs on my knees and a heating pad on my hip for relief from the pain. Tomorrow I get to fly to Houston to go see my wife...whom I have not seen in two weeks...to go to her company's Christmas party. I am going to chance not wearing my knee brace as it makes passing thru security at the airports very difficult...as they make me take it off...and then I have to find a bathroom so I can put it back on again. Way too much of a pain. The there is never enough leg room on the planes so it is uncomfortable to wear it on the plane. So I think I will skip wearing it all together and just hope my legs hold out for the day. Well..hope everyone has a nice holiday season...one free of too much pain I hope and pray!! Guest guest
Hi Larry, I'm so sorry, do you have a Handicapped status?? I knowing flying first class (last minute) does not cost that much to bump up to first class if it is open and gives you more leg room. But don't do it until you get up to where they take your luggage. I was in a flare last January for my daughter's wedding in Las Vegas and they bumped us off the plane!!! I had to sleep on the floor at the LV airport on my coat. They didn't care and they wouldn't give out pillows or blankets at all. Most miserable trip of my life except for the wedding! Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Larry Holmack <bichondaddy1057@...> wrote: Hi... It usually hits me right before I have a flare, I look at it as " notification of upcoming events, " gives me time to prepare for the inevitable. I can get through it with just Tramadol and Tylenol for the fever. Let me know what your rheumy says about it. Thanks Ann > > Ok today I have not felt myself. Guest guest
Toni, I'm not sure what the fever was about. I'm glad to hear it's gone though. Usually, with a flare you have a lot of joint pain, and swelling, or I sure do. I have notice a fever is with me every night now. I do think you need to find a good rheumy, maybe someone can help you with one in your area on the group, hugs Tawny > > Ok today I have not felt myself.
