Guest guest
I was wondering how long everyone waits after SCIG infusions before letting there kid go play in the neighborhood backyard pool that does NOT have clorine and a ton of kids playing in? My gut says don't let her play in it at all but its right in the front yard in the apt complex we live in and dd is in tears over my saying no to today becasue we finished infusing this morning and the holes are open, I'm thinking 24 hours should be fine. 7 CVID Lilly 2 was CVID now back in dx stage AGAIN. Guest guest
Our kids have no restrictions post-SCIG. If you prepped the area prior to injection, it should be fine. Of course, I am not a doctor. Peace be with you, Pattie Understanding is the reward of faith. Guest guest
Hi , I am a strong advocate of normalcy and I would not worry. The holes don't stay open and seal pretty quickly. We even bath with our infusions " straws " straws in place. Many diabetics use the same systems of catheters and needles that we use. They always have the catheters in place....during everything in their life.....only changing them when scheduled. If you are worried, just put a tagaderm over the site.......but I would not worry. Terri How longer after SCIG... Guest guest
, Like Terri, I also my daughter do everything (within reason for a CVIDer) a few minutes after sq but would not let her in a potentially contaminated pool. : ( (We took our kiddo on vacation to a place that, we were told, had the cleanest oceans in the world. Of course, she contracted a violent GI infection within 48 hours. We felt horrible and will never do that again!) We recently purchased an inflatable spa/pool and use chemicals, filter, and a cover. Even chlorine is not perfect but it's one of the best we've got right now. Guest guest
Bromine is actually better than the chlorine if you can get it at a HOT tub company. Less caustic and kills the bacteria. Atleast this is the info I have. We always just got our own pool for the same reasons. Also be aware of lakes and rivers. Walking in them is probably OK but deep into is an issue. I took Lucas to Mexico ( Cancun) at 2 with the knowledge of the Immunlogist and we came back with a nasty sinus bug that took over 6 mo to clear with IV antx, hospitalization, FTT. He got a GI problem while we were there and an ear infection but really sick when we got home. ( He was on antibiotics while we were there) I do not know if it was from being in Mexico or the airplane trip or both.
