Guest guest
Hi , You might want to ask your doctor/lab what the sensitivity of the PCR test is. It could be that they changed to a more sensitive test and it is showing a value rather than saying it is undetectable. To me your result of 0.00045 indicates a 4.5 log reduction. If the sensitivity of their test is a 5 log reduction, then you simply slipped just under their definition of PCRU. Also remember that it takes 3 consecutive PCR results to establish a trend. When I had my PCR testing done in Ottawa (where I live) it always came back as PCRU with the caviot that the test was only sensitive to a 4 log reduction. I now have my testing done in a lab in Toronto which has a more sensitive test. If I liked the idea of being PCRU I would simply have my testing done at the Ottawa lab. I always wondered why people report their results in whole numbers or log reductions. The lab where I go, MSKCC, reports in percentages. I was there a few weeks ago. I just got my latest results. They are: FISH 100% negative, PCR 0.00045. I have been undetectable since starting Tasigna in June of 2008, so I was a little disappointed. But the dr. said not to worry. I know I shouldn't but I like the sound of undetectable better! I'm just glad I have a drug that is working for me. in NY
