gleevec and oral contraceptives

Eva...

I am on birth control pills to regulate my periods, but when they were

prescribed I contacted the pharmacist at the cancer clinic I go to and he said

they were fine to take...in fact I was told by my new OB-GYN that young women on

Gleevac should be on contraceptives to prevent getting pregnant..as getting

pregnant on Gleevac could cause birth defects...
