Guest guest
I just learned what my PCR baseline was on August 31st which is the day they discovered my CML. It was 7.695 In the world of CML is this a high number? I am just learning about this type of test. I will be having another PCR in two weeks after being on Gleevec for almost 3 months. They send it out and won't have the results until just before Christmas. margie nance On Dec 1, 2009, at 6:35 PM, Zavie wrote: > O!!! Guest guest
One thing to ask, does your lab use the International Scale or the other one (don't kno what to call it). For example, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) where I have been treated uses the old one, while Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) uses the international one. Not sure how many use the old one any more.... > > > O!!! Guest guest
Hi Margie, This is a pretty low number so it means that your CML was discovered pretty early. Mine was probably between 50 and 100 at diagnosis time. They didn't do PCR testing in the early days. You want to find out what the sensitivity of the PCR test is at your lab. You want it to be 1 in 100,000 or more. Make sure you get a copy of all the results. It is very easy track your results. And once again a big O!!! YIPPEEE!!! on your achievement. The next milestone that you will be looking for is MMR. This will be a PCR value of 0.007695. It would be nice to get it within 18 months of diagnosis.
