Guest guest
Hello Gloria. It depends on the individual person. I can not take the pills as my bowel will not absorb them but the injections are working about 60% of the time. I inject every Saturday but come Thursday I know it is due soon by the way all my joints feel & by the fact I can hardly walk. Good Health. Debbie J. I guess my real question doesn't concern side-effects as much as it concerns it's effectiveness. Do you find that injecting metho is more effective in terms of controlling your symptoms than taking it in pill form? gloria
Guest guest
Gloria, For me its about the same. The ony difference is MTX gets into my system faster via injections than pills. The pills you have to wait for them to be dissolved and absorbed via your GI tract. On the same note I get nausea and dizziness within mins of injection the MTX. On pills it took a few hours before I started feeling nauseaous. toni In a message dated 3/3/04 6:03:16 AM Central Standard Time, Rheumatoid Arthritis writes: Message: 1 Date: Tue, 2 Mar 2004 10:58:24 EST From: gloriarex@... Guest guest
: I would definitely call the doctor about this cough, especially if it seems directly tied to your injections. I don't suffer from side effects from the metho, so I'm not sure what they are. gloria
Guest guest
On the subject of methotrexate injections....When should I worry about the cough I seem to have when I do the injection equal to 20 mg? I haven't had nausea with the injections like I developed at 15mg of the pills. -----Original Message-----From: aclavern33@... Guest guest
One of the reasons my RD started me out with Arava rather than Methotrexate was that he thought Methotrexate was more likely to lead to lung involvement. (He also knew I had smoked for 57 years and that might have influenced his decision.) Anyway, you ;shoult let your RD know. I don't think I would worry, but I surely would be cautious and let the doctor know. God bless. ----- Original Message ----- From: SportsFanHome Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Thursday, March 04, 2004 8:07 AM Subject: RE: Re: methotrexate injections On the subject of methotrexate injections....When should I worry about the cough I seem to have when I do the injection equal to 20 mg? Guest guest
Ok, this is how it was explained to me and this is what I read. The dosage of methotrexate is totally irrelevent!!! The lung problems that can occur called drug induced pneumonitis can happen at ANY TIME DURING THE COURSE OF TREATMENT. The key symtom is drying, none productive cough. Any cough should be investigated and to rule out the possibiity of drug induce pneumonitis. Left untreated this can be fatal! This is not something you want to play with! I had this occur and it was not fun!! Guest guest
Here is a link to an article which discusses pneumonitis and methrotrexate. I was not aware of this though the doctor does usually ask if I have a cough. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi? cmd=Retrieve & db=PubMed & list_uids=1412121 & dopt=Abstract annette > Ok, this is how it was explained to me and this is what I read.
