Hi Barbara,

I'm also on Tasigna (since June 2008). I was wondering what dose you

started on. I started on 400 mg. for one month, then got pushed up to the

standard dose of 800 mg. I did fine starting this way with no ill effects.

Once I got up to 800 mg,, however, I did notice changes with my scalp. I

experienced strong itching, some hair thinning, and a very sensitive scalp.

It improved within about a month, however. Suddenly, after 1 1/2 yrs. I had

the itching on my scalp again. It stayed about 3 weeks then stopped. I

wonder why Tasigna seems to cause this scalp itching? Anyway, for me it has

been for a short period. I hope your sensitive scalp issues resolve in

the same way.

Hi and Barbara,

I too have the itchy scalp and very sensitive scalp too. It goes away and

comes back. Not so bad that I worry about it. And like I have said before I

had thinning of my hair but it is coming back now. I just learn to live

with these ups and downs. I started on 400 for about a month then moved up

to 600mg and stayed there. Been PCRU for a long time. I posted an article

about a study where they have found that 600mg is as effective as 800mg now

with Tasigna and were going to use that as the standard dose. If anyone

wants me to send it to them let mw know. My doctor sent it to me.

I started at Tasigna 400 mg for two weeks, moved

up to 600 mg and then to 800 mg. I found that if

I did not hydrate well, I would get itchy skin, some

times in my scalp, but for me it was more on my

hands.

I also found that I experienced more fatigue at

800 mg than I did at Gleevec 800 mg. However,

for me I had to carefully watch my blood pressure

as it climbed sky high (blood pressure has never

been an issue for me) and because of it, I had

to move to Sprycel.

With the warmest regards,
