Guest guest
: I agree that fraud is a problem, but is no excuse to not offer us the choice a robust public option or Medicare for All program. There is rampant fraud and abuse in many government agencies. Witness the defense department and military appropriations, witness the unaccounted for billions " lost " in Iraq, much by the " privatized " contractors. But no one will scrap the Iraq war over the mere issue of fraud. We hold bake sales and runathons for leukemia but when was the last time we held a bake sale to buy Predator missiles or Stealth bombers. And when was the last time we had to have a Congressional Budget Office scoring for a defense appropriations bill? Money is no object when it comes to killing foreigners, but certain segments of American society get very particular when it comes time to pony up to heal people and save lives of Americans. And what about the " fraud " of the private insurance companies that keep 30% of our premiums for expenses such as $20 million for an executive's salary. How many bone marrow transplants would $20 million buy? By the way, Medicare expense only take up 4% of our premiums. So let's crack down on the fraud committed by the " privatized " doctors and hospitals that cheat the system and put the cheaters in jail. All I want is a choice. I'm sick of insurance companies making billions in obscene profits while millions, including many children, die for lack of proper health care. It is really boils down to the question of what kind of society you want. I myself have Medicare and am very concerned about the enormous sums of money stolen from Medicare. I too have a problem with the obscene executive salaries paid out. Medicare fraud also contributes to nothing actual heath care. These two problems must be solved before any kind of extended health insurance will work. I am including a Tinyurl link to a claim made by Sen. Tom Coburn about Medicare fraud. There seems to be no politician who can be believed on any side. Lets hope some good can come from health care reform!
