Guest guest
Well, I don’t know --- my boys had elevated liver enzymes prior to starting IVIG as part of their Syndrome. They normalized (common in SDS) and now one of them is having increased liver enzymes, but I am not thinking it is because of the IgG replacement because he has been on it for 5 ½ years and had normal liver enzyme levels. It just started going back up 6 months ago. Also wanted to thank whoever used the words " immune modulation " . Those are the words the immunologist used and I could not remember them, so thanks. My question tonight is: Has anyone had issues with IVIG causing elevated liver functions? The GI doc just called and said that 's liver functions (labs drawn yesterday) were very elevated. She has had trouble with it the past few months but it had been improving. He was trying to find out if IVIG could be the cause, if not they will be scheduling a liver biopsy. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks~ 's Journey www.caringbridge.org/visit/jessica16

Guest guest
Someone more knowledgeable help me out here, but I believe that the sucrose-stabilized IVIG products may be harder on the liver. That is where sucrose is metabolized. My kids have elevated liver enzymes, but related to their metabolic disorder. That being said, we were told from the beginning to only use a protein-stabilized product (we use Gamunex). I believe Gamunex and Vivaglobin are the only 2 that are protein-stabilized. What kind is using? Guest guest
Your doctor needs to call the IDF Dr. Consulting line. There are some great doctors who will talk to them about what ever they needs. I am sorry I do not have the number but someone else will pipe in soon.
