Guest guest
Dear Neal, Not everyone experiences fatigue to the same extreme as you, but even though they do not have sheep to tend or a Border Collie to walk, they are nodding their heads in unison about their own fatigue issues. I watched them tend and shear sheep around Cheddar Gorge in England and I can almost picture you with your Collie. They have several trained Collies on their farms, each Collie takes different orders about their jobs in how to corral the sheep. Our cousin uses them exclusively for his cattle on his dairy farm in MS. Like you, many have to get up and go to work, we don't all have the luxury to stay home. You have no idea how many people you have touched in your post today, with so many living with these same issues. Other than switching to another drug or taking part in a new trial, I have no answers for you, just a few questions. I have been off Gleevec for so long that I don't really remember everything that happened to me, but I do recall the constant fatigue, nausea, vomiting, swelling and weight gain. The difference is I never had to get up and go to work every day. You and others are some of our unsung heroes, having to push yourselves to the edge of the cliff without falling off. It is really unfortunate for you that you have already used up your last sick day, but hopefully you won't need more time off. You have to chart your own course, but if it were me and I had a choice, I would at least have a long discussion with my doctor. Perhaps you have already done this, but I would ask if there were other options out there for you. Are you in a good enough place where you might be able to taper off? Have you ever emailed Dr. Druker and asked his advice?Good luck and thanks for sharing. Hands & hearts, Lottie Duthu
Guest guest
I would love to go to Britain to see their sheep operations some day. My dog's dad was imported from Wales. They are wonderful dogs. I am on 400mg right now, so I don't think I could go down from there. I haven't emailed Dr. Druker, but I am going to see a specialist on Thursday. I'm hoping that maybe I can get a switch to one of the other drugs. Other than the fatigue, my main side effects are nausea, diarrhea and joint/bone/muscle pain. I've been starting to get fat, but I think it's mostly because I'm too exhausted to be very active. Still, with Zophran, ibuprofen and regular walks, I could deal with the side effects, if it wasn't for the fatigue. I don't think I'm any hero. I'm just doing what I have to do.
