Guest guest
Jerri From: Jerri Dangerfield <fourdangers@...> Subject: Lab interp questions Date: Friday, September 5, 2008, 6:21 AM My daughter, , 14yo. had a past diagnosis of Antibody Deficiency. She didn't make protective levels of anti. to pneumococcal. She rec. IVIG for 5 yrs. then 3 yr. of prophylactic antibiotic. Now, we are in limbo. A new doc. who took the place of her retiring doc. is raising the question of whether she now really has an antibody def. We have done labs and a B cell panel. The new doc did not use the same lab for the 6 mo. antibody recheck, I think this was a screwup on somebody's part. Can anybody look and these and give me an opinion. And ideas a re: questions I need to ask about this. I have some of my own but want to make sure there is nothing I am missing here. The new doc keeps leaning toward revaccination every year with pneumococcal and rechecking the levels as her treatment. No more prophylactic antibiotic. Type LabCorp Hosp. Lab Pre Post 6 mo recheck 1 <1.00 1.50 1.52 3 <1.00 2.69 3.68 4 <1.00 1.18 .29 8 2.34 6.24 2.80 9 <1.00 1.38 1.20 12 5.74 9.94 9.83 14 5.71 8.08 7.06 19 1.72 5.61 4.63 23 <1.00 <1.00 .65 26 <1.00 <1.00 .74 51 1.60 3.23 1.97 56 <1.00 <1.00 .39 57 2.43 2.72 58 <1.00 1.32 No matches on the lab sheets for type 57 and 58. The old doc was thinking maybe a responder albeit weak with possible preservation problem. He never got to see the 6 mo. antibody recheck before he went out on medical retirement. What do any of you guys think??? All other immunologlobulins normal. Iga is a little low, but not considered deficient. No allergies. Sorry about last incomplete email. Hit the wrong button.
