Guest guest
, I would not panic for all the reasons mentioned. While PCRU, mine jumped to 13 with a nasty ear infection. Sure, it bothered me, but did not let it keep me awake at night. Next visit, ear was healed up, WBC back in the normal range. Chris
Guest guest
I would not wait a whole month!! I think you need to be retested and it should be very soon. Tell your Doctor to do a little bit more research to help you!!! What dosage are you taking? Maybe they need to increase it????? Obviously the Gleevec is not working if it is going up. Your Dr. can switch you to Sprycel or Tasigna. I am feeling really uncomfortable with a 9 point rise in a month. My last pcr was .004 the one 3 months before was .007. I am happy with those numbers but am concerned about waiting a whole month before having it rechecked. amanda

Guest guest
Hi , Call your doctor and tell him that you are concerned about the WBC increase and that you would feel better if it was checked in two weeks rather than one month. Also, the increase in WBC might not even be related to CML. A simple infection can cause a WBC rise. Your PCR result is outstanding. Guest guest
Hi , I wouldn't panic but since you're uncomfortable, you could ask for another PCR and a retest of your CBC sooner than a month. White counts can go up for many reasons, most of which have nothing to do with CML and given your last PCR results, I would lean on the " nothing to do with CML " side. Have you been on any type of steroid treatment? Have you had any type of cold, flu or infection? Have you gained a lot of weight recently? Do you smoke? These are all things that can make your white count go up. Let us know what your next test results are, Tracey
Guest guest
Hi all- My WBC counts have been low (around 1.5 or so), been taking 300 Gleevec.  The notes below lead me to believe that high is bad... So is being below normal better? Thanks, Danny -- Sent from my Palm Prē letitbe@... wrote:  , I would not panic for all the reasons mentioned. Your pcr tells you that you have VERY FEW leukemia cells...that is what the pcr is saying. Just because you white count went up, it does not mean they are leukemia cells.....and as and others have said, it can and most likely is due to something else. When you relapse, or lose your response to your drug, the first things that would go up is the pcr number....WAY before you would see an increase in the white count. The white count would be the last thing to go up in this case. It seems like your body might be dealing with some infection or something? I would ask for a repeat of the cbc sooner, maybe 2 weeks from the last test. C.
Guest guest
Hi I think that a low WBC on meds are not all that bad, if your ANC is at least 500. My WBC was running below 1.0 around 0.7 0,5. My doc was not too concerned, although he did try G-CSS, an injection over a week or so to increase the WBC. It did not work. ANC should be above 2000, but 1000 is not uncommon for CML, under 500 puts one into danger of an infection. Talk with your doctor about G-CSF (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Granulocyte_colony-stimulating_factor) SkipD DX'ed 32 ++ years ________________________________ From: Danny Dobrzenski <ddobrzenski@...> " " < > Sent: Wed, January 20, 2010 1:01:15 AM Subject: Re: [ ] RE:high wbc  Hi all- My WBC counts have been low (around 1.5 or so), been taking 300 Gleevec.  The notes below lead me to believe that high is bad...
