I just wanted to say WOW has it been a year? Today was supposed to be my 1

year anniversary too - some of you may know that I broke my foot and had to

be rescheduled to July 14. However, I just wanted to say to everyone - Thank

you so much for sharing the journey of this past year with me. Even though I

do not respond to many posts I am there in spirit with every single post. I

have laughed with you, cried with you, shared your joy and successes and felt

a lot of pain as if it were my own. This past year has been quite a ride. I

am proud to consider you all friends and am proud of each and every one of

you! What a year this has been!!!!!!!!!!!

We never did much of anything for the usual biggies - 5th, 10th, 20th.

When Ed & I were newlyweds we always imagined that by our 25th we would have had a houseful of kids, all on their own by then with their own children, and they would get together and toss us a big party in a hall, like my parents had for their 25th and my grandparents had for their 25th and 50th. Well, when it finally rolled around last year, we have only one kid who was still in school, stuck in class that night until 6 pm, and Ed was still working the cruddy job and didn't get home until almost 7:30pm and had to be up at 5 the next morning.

Out of all our parents, only one is alive but lives 1200 miles away. Most of the rest of our relatives have either died off or moved so far away we haven't heard from, or even of, them in decades. Members of our bridal party have already died, too. We have no close friends - they all packed up their families and got as far away from gritty, urban NJ as they could. Even if we had a party, there's nobody left to attend it.

Our big celebration for the day was treating ourselves to a pizzeria pizza when Henry finally got in. It was about all we could afford.

Next week is our 26th. Our "celebration" is again going to consist of a pizza, because we've had one each and every year on that date for 26 years, including our wedding night after we got home from the reception. That's it.

And after 26 years, that's about all we need, too.

October must be a good month for our long term marriages. Hooray for Ceil and

Al, so far they are the winners of our Valentine contest for having celebrated

the most Valentines together. I cede to you, Ceil and Al up there in New York.
