Guest guest
Hi Ellen, My husband was dx in May of this year. Medicare has paid all expenses as far as doctors, hospital, tests with the help of our supplement. The drug situation is another question all together. Luckily our doctor helped us get Gleevec from Norvartis from June to December with no cost. He did not have Part D in the past. Now he has just signed up for Part D through AARP which seemed like the most advantageous for him. We don't know yet what it will cost through this plan, but I expect it will be costly. He will pay a monthy premium of $38.80, deductible of $310. Plan pays 75% of specialty drugs, but we don't know what that cost is until we get into it in January. I don't know if there is any other help available. Maybe someone else has info on that. We all need to watch our politicians as they are wanting to reduce medicare coverage and I fear they may follow the European trend of not covering our expensive meds. Best wishes to all, Joyce M
