Guest guest
Hello, I have had RA for 16 years. I also am a sugar and carb addict and notice a huge difference when I am off of sugar and watching my carbohydrate intake ( I do really well when following the Atkins diet). As soon as I fall off the sugar wagon, I flare up. Particularly with sweets and white flour products. For instance at Christmas time I just let myself go for a few days and realized that I would have to suffer the consequenses. Now my brother also has RA and diabetes and he also suffers when he indulges in the sweets. I am also very susceptable to night pains when I drink coffee. Have been off of it for 10 years and no night pains. I do drink green tea and occasionally have diet Pepsi without a problem. Hope this helps. I do know that everyone is different. What may flare one person won't bother the next. Janet > Two dear members of my family have this terrible disease. Guest guest
For myself I haven't found a connection between any particular food (or class of foods) and RA, but I know that a lot of people do. I do feel more energetic when I eat a well balanced diet, but I did that even before RA. For me stress and fatigue cause the most problems. Just as we all react differently to medications, I think we all react differently to foods. Beth > Two dear members of my family have this terrible disease. Guest guest
Marcia- Interesting you should mention a ringing in your ears after drinking diet cola.... I just read tonight some interesting articles someone forwarded me about the negative affects of NutraSweet. One mentioned was ringing in the ears. You can find them by doing a search on NutraSweet or aspartame on mercola.com As an " addict " to diet colas myself, I'm now rethinking my consumption!! Yikes!! Something to look in to . .
