Guest guest
, I would certainly report it to her doctor just so he/she can check and see if anything was different yesterday. Are you writing down lot numbers and all the details for each infusion? For Katy, that would mean that they ran it just a little too fast for her system to tolerate. Was it any shorter yesterday? It also could mean that she's got something brewing (a bug of some kind) and the IgG is attacking it. It wasn't terribly unusual for Katy to occasionally have a nasty headache post infusion. We treated with Tylenol because Katy couldn't use Benadryl -- but I understand that Benadryl help some people more. Hope it goes away soon. But, yes, I would call the doctor just so it goes in the chart. Guest guest
Ibuprofen and Benadryl worked for my kids while on IVIG. would get headaches for 2 days and would often puke. ph got bad headaches, too. We started doing 2 doses of IV Benadryl during infusion and found that it helped the headaches a lot.and then followed up with Ibuprofen as soon as we got home (Hem would only give Tylenol in hosp.) ph had gone 3 years without a reaction to IVIG and then had a severe reaction in the hospital right before we switched to SCIG. I think that each time you go, you run the risk of side effects. SCIG has been great-no headaches or anything other than a bit of redness at the injection sites. Increasing fluids prior to IVIG also helped a bit. Guest guest
I'll tell you what works for us. We put HeadOn on his temples. It does work. You can find it at a drug store. Also, a hot shower seems to help. Did they run it faster this time, or switch products? I think he would be OK to go to sleep, always escaped in sleep. Good luck and prayers, @...: knmb2@...: Tue, 17 Feb 2009 22:44:05 -0500Subject: Post infusion headache I have a quick question. My son (12 yrs old with CVID) has been receiving IVIG since he is 5. Only once, when switching from Polygam to Gammagard, did we ever have a severe headache after infusion. My son's IVIG was yesterday, during the day in school he got a severe headache. He does have a sinus infection and we got a new antibiotic today, the infection was not bad. Tonight the headache is back and worse. Gave him motrin, nothing changed. Now I am not sure if the headache is sinus or infusion related. I am afraid to let him go to sleep...is there anything I should be doing? His neck doesn't hurt and he has no fever???Any suggestions would be helpful.Thanks!Kim[Non-text portions of this message have been removed] _________________________________________________________________ Windows Live™: Keep your life in sync. http://windowslive.com/explore?ocid=TXT_TAGLM_WL_t1_allup_explore_022009
Guest guest
Ursula, Earlier today, he was complaining in his face and eyes, but tonight, he was holding the back of his head and said it hurt all over. He is laying down and says it is a little better. Should I be calling someone or just watch him close... Thanks! ~Kim RE: Post infusion headache Where is he complaining of the headache? I think that would help me determine if it was reaction or sinus, regardless of other symptoms.
