Guest guest
Thanks to all who responded to my Friday night posting. It helps alot! But now that I have thought this through a few days I have a 2 questions for those of you who have been through this before. Thanks in advance for any info you can provide. First, have any of you been told that it makes a difference as to which Laboratory your blood work is sent to? And do any of you have any suggestions as to which is best or one that I should ask to be used? I guess my Drs have been using different labs and therefore may be a prime reason as to why they do not agree with each other. Second, does anyone know how long between a vaccination and a blood test looking for titers should be done? It looks like my son may have an initial response but then loses it soon after. My Pediatric Infectious Disease Dr is concerned about this and says it could be a memory issue with the cells where my Immuno disagrees. I guess time will tell which one is right. But the last time the immuno drew titers it was 2 weeks after a vaccination. Isn't this too soon? He was re-vacinated on Friday and I want to make sure I wait long enough this time. Thanks again for all your help and support. Chris
Guest guest
Your info is accurate. Same lab is essential as well as titers are drawn before and then 3-6 weeks after depending on Immunologist and where in the country. Memory loss is very important as can change over time. Your immunologist does not sound like someone who does pediatric immunology but may dabble in it. Many Asthma, allergist and immunologist have knowlege in that order. And have done very little in keeping up. I would encourage you to call the IDF and find out a GOOD immunologist in your area. BARBIE Titers and Labs...which ones to use and do?
