Guest guest
Did the immunologist say he thought might have CVID before seeing these test results? Based on this, I don't think it's possible for him to have CVID. That doesn't mean he doesn't have an immune deficiency, just the definition of CVID is low Igs. With that not being the issue, the next thing to look at is the titers. If those are low even after a vaccine challenge, then he is probably a candidate for IVIG. That would be a diagnosis of antibody deficiency. Hello- Thanks for all of your replies so far too my questions.. So my next question is can you have slightly elevated IG's and still have CVID and be a candidate for IVIG? Does anyone have this? - does have elevated IGG, IGM and IGA. ref range IGA= 157 (25- 152) IGG 1400 (560-1307) IGM 297 (41-186) IgG 1 = 1130 (350-940) Like I have said we are waiitng a few weeks to repeat s titers but the immunologist thinks might have CVID and be a candidate for IVIG? I am a bit confused since he doesnt have low IG's- thanks, Suzanne mom- 4 year old
Guest guest
No The IG's were high in June 08 and then were repeated in Sept 08 when we saw the immunologist and were still high. The immunologist didnt talk about CVID or IVIG until a few weeks ago- mid October. thnaks, suzanne ________________________________ From: Hobbs <hobbsfamily@...> Sent: Wednesday, November 5, 2008 6:29:52 PM Subject: RE: high IG's? Guest guest
My husband has IgG in the 900 range but not antibody response to his titers. He also has low IgM. His official diagnosis is CVID. They're there, they just have no punch. Wait for the antibody titers. Guest guest
-- He can have the highest numbers ever, but if they cant make titers, they are sort of shooting blanks. They arent working to do the job they need to do....so IVIG would still help.......it would be working IG's he needs to be protected from bacteria. He can also have other problems with the immune system....NK cells, T and B cells, lots of other things. Have those been checked? valarie - In , Suz Blokzyl <ryanthomas04@...> wrote: > > Hello- > > Thanks for all of your replies so far too my questions.. > > So my next question is can you have slightly elevated IG's and still have CVID and be a candidate for IVIG? Guest guest
They've never checked NK cells, I know the one time they did a t-cell panel, he had something low in the t-cell, but they told me not to worry about it at the other immuno office. I don't know that they have ever checked B-cells either. The only thing to my knowledge that have been checked are the IG levels and the titer responses. And the one time Jayden had the t-cell panel ran. That's it ... I just know I'm tired of them being so sick all the time ... doing homebound seems to be helping ... minutely ... only because they are able to get a little more rest, but they still have been pretty much sick constantly since we've been on homebound too. *sighs* just still waiting .. ________________________________ From: osdbmom <osdbmom@...> Sent: Thursday, November 6, 2008 11:07:18 AM Subject: Re: high IG's? -- He can have the highest numbers ever, but if they cant make titers, they are sort of shooting blanks.
