Dear Sue,

I had no idea you had so many rashes and side effects, but I am glad you are

out of the woods, so to speak. I never had body rashes until I started Gleevec,

but after that, it was a mixed bag. I don't remember any rashes on Sprycel, but

I did on SKI, worse than all of them put together and on my face and neck, like

hives with numbness. The longest they let me stay off of it was 3 weeks and I

had to go back to it even with the hives on my face. I had to stop and start,

lower the dose and take steroids. I still have remanants and flareups, but

nothing like the beginning. I'll tell you one thing, the steriods sure was good

for the arthritis. LOL

I'm glad to know they are out there, they are all valuable tools and if all

else failed, I could go back to them, possibly in a combo like Dr. Talpaz is

experimenting with. Is there anyone out there who has taken both alpha and beta

inteferon, and if so, which one made you the least sick? Several people in the

group have been on Gleevec and Inteferon and went into remission rather quickly

and maintained it. Something about INF that has sustaining power. It will be

around for a long time and I have actually met some people online who said they

benefitted from INF and didn't get sick. Wow, can't imagine that.

It's still used for Hep C and other cancers.

FYI,

Lottie Duthu
