Hello All,

Long time no see... but still see familiar names here after a few years. Zavie

- what is my zero number again - I actually forgot - and I can't blame that on

interferon! hahaha! I think I'm #112 (aka Gale Woliver, way back then...)

Anyway, still on the Gleevec, wasn't supposed to live past 46 and just turned

the half a century mark last November... but... now

thinking about switching to Sprycel.

And before I make that decision - have to check with you guys first...

I've read a few good things just tonight.

whatcha think ? I do not want to lose my zero club status, you know. Gleevec

has been good to me for these last 9 years, but having a bit more edema,

achiness and weight gain (and don't tell me it's because I just turned 50 - or

I'll shoot ya!)

To your good marrow,

Gale Bacon (aka Woliver)

Dear Gale

it is so good to hear from you. our journey is very similar and we are both on

400 mg for more than 9 years now, and keeping our molecular remision.

I realy dont know what to tell you regarding the switch to sprycel. on one hand

i truly believe that winning horses should not be switched, and glivec surely

has been a winning horse for you. on the other hand you have to face the side

effects and deal with them on daily basis, so noone can give you an advise.

only one question to think about- one of sprycel side effects is plural

effusion. if you already suffer from stronger edema i will double check with my

dr why switch to sprycel and not tasigna for example?

i wish you good luck no matter which way you go

take care

Giora

Hi Gale,

It is great to hear from you again, and your memory hasn't failed you. Your

Zero Club number is 112.

Before switching drugs, why not contact Dr. Talpaz to see if you qualify for

the Combo Trial to see if you can go off Gleevec completely.
