Guest guest
I had a meeting with the boys school yesterday about trying to get them a 504 since we've gotten their diagnosis. The Dr had advised me to get one for each of them, but now the school is telling me that they won't give us one. For my 6yr old, since he is doing so well grade wise, they don't think it's necessary and would rather just give him a " Medical Fragile " file on his chart, and same goes with my oldest son, although he actually has had a decrease in his grades this year (5th grade). I don't know what legalities are involved in getting a 504, but I thought since the Dr told me to get one, that we would just have to request the paperwork and she'd fill it out and we'd be done with it, I had no idea it was up to a " team " of people at the school to decide if the kids got one or not. Does anyone know if I have a leg to stand on if I choose to challenge this??? Please advise!!! I need some help!! I feel discouraged at how the meeting turned out Deska
