Guest guest
I was wondering if anyone has a reaction of a rash with vivagloben? My son 6, on viva SCIG for 5 ½ months, is having rashing all over his body. Now he’s always been a rashy dry skin kid. As a matter of fact when he was 6 days old he broke out head to toe with the worst rash you’ve ever seen. His rashes were always classified as suboeric dermatitis, but eczema runs in the family. Anyway he is PID IGA def, IGG subclass 2 and 3 deficient, and probably not “remembering” his titers/etc due to constant sicknesses, this the SCIG. I’ve read about some of your children getting allergic reactions to SCIG, how do you know it’s a reaction? We’ve had slight rashing after past SCIG infusions, but this is getting extreme. Thanks in advance, Michele
Guest guest
We knew it was an allergic reaction because it started as a small rash and then, as it got larger each infusion, he began looking sick and running a fever. The first 2 times it happened, he was put on Keflex, thinking it was a skin infection, like he usually gets. Then each week the reaction got worse, and occurred sooner and sooner, until the last time as soon as the med went into the skin, the fever and the rash began. It was the progressive nature of the reaction, which indicated allergic, rather then his traditional skin rashes. - in CT mom to 6 1/2 years ________________________________ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Michele Sent: Sunday, May 18, 2008 9:18 PM Subject: Rash and SCIG Viva I was wondering if anyone has a reaction of a rash with vivagloben? Guest guest
We have had not problem with the more diluted products such as gammagard. There may also be a perservative in the product. That is generally what most people are allergic to . I surely would try another product before giving up on Sub Q.
