Mine has sense developed into cirhhrosis of the liver. You can find a lot of inforation about hcv on the web. Just type in hepatitis c and chose which web site you want , and don " t worry it is not a death sentence. Hcv is a very slow chronic disease that over a long peroid of time causes damage to the liver. The best advice I can give is get a good doctor that specializes in liver diseases, and kept the faith. Guest guest
I just recently found out my mom has CML, and I'm not exactly sure what is it and what I should be in store for. How do I help her with this, and what are the usual outcomes with this cancer? My mom had cervical cancer in 2003 can this make it worse for her? Guest guest
Hi, sorry your mom has been diagnosed with CML. First thing , she needs to go to a CML specialist, not just an oncologist. Many cancer doctors do not treat enough CML patients to know enough about it, as it is a rare leukemia. I have had it for 15 years, and with the medication they have today, it is usually no different than treating any other chronic disease. We used to be given about 5 years to live, today they don't give us a time, one of our list members has had it over 33 years. There are so many people on this site that can help you with any questions you may have, feel free to ask. The usual treatment today is Gleevec, it has some side effects for some people, none for others. But you should find an expert to help you get the right care right up front. Good luck, Bobby a ( Bobby ) Doyle, dob 12/17/29 Brecksville, Ohio, USA DX 5/1995 Interferon 9 weeks/Hydroxyurea 5 years 02/2000 to 06/2002 Gleevec trial, OHSU 06/2002 Gleevec/Trisenox Trial, OHSU 06/2003 Gleevec/Zarnestra Trial, OHSU 04/2004 Sprycel Trial, MDACC, CCR in 10 months 04/2008 XL228 Trial, U of Mich. 01/2009 PCR 5.69 04/2009 Ariad Trial AP24534 09/2009 PCR 0.017 11/2009 PCR 0.034 #840 Zavie's Zero Club From: mellory92 <mellory92@...> Subject: [ ] Finding out Date: Friday, April 16, 2010, 12:25 PM  I just recently found out my mom has CML, and I'm not exactly sure what is it and what I should be in store for. Guest guest
HI: This is a lot for you and your Mom to take in if she was just recently diagnosed. Just take one day at a time, and I would tell you exactly what a just said. Your Mom needs a specialist who is experienced in all aspects of treating CML. I have had CML for 11 years now, and I am doing very well as there are many others here who are doing good. Just post any questions you have at anytime, and ask anything you want. There is usually someone on here who has experienced whatever your Mom is experiencing. The more information you give, the more we can be of some help. Hope we hear from you or even your Mom herself if she can get on the computer. > > I just recently found out my mom has CML, and I'm not exactly sure what is it and what I should be in store for.
