I should have realized it was no eating 2 hours before the drug (to empty the stomach) and 1 hour after, to just let the drug sit undisturbed in your stomach. I am sure I can figure good times....the most important thing for me is to not be locked into rigid times for lunch and dinner, I like lots of flexibility there. I will ask Dr. Druker about ramping the drug up as others have also mentioned. Thanks again, C. (from Oregon)
Guest guest
Hi I have not been active with group. Lately but I remember you how supportive you were and others by giving advises to me few yeas ago. Thanks a lot. I have been on 400 mg Gleevec since 2/2003 Last year due to my side effect my dr agree to reduce my dose to 200 but after 6 month my number went up from 0.0 to 0.03 so I am back on 400mg and to mY fatigue, diarrhea and edema side effect am waiting on my next blood result to discuss my option to change my med although my doc don't want to. I am reading there are good results on other drug w less side effect. So I hope I can change Gleevec and have my energy back. I apologize for my long e-mail. It is great that we have more option now on CML, What a blessing. Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry [ ] C./Tasigna My prior email went off before I was ready...darn laptop. Anyway, the fasting is tolerable, just takes getting used to. You should have an EKG before starting and regularly after. I started Tasigna in June of 2008. My dr. had me start at 400 mg. once a day. After about 3 weeks, I was moved up to the standard dose of 800 mg. taken in two 400 mg. doses. The doses should be as close to 12 hours apart as you can get. I feel GREAT on Tasigna. I feel fortunate that I have tolerated it very well and my tests show very good results too. I hope you do as well. I became PCRU after being on Tasigna for only a couple of months, although I was only slightly detectable on Gleevec. I stopped Gleevec due to pleural effusions and ascites from that drug, so Sprycel wasn't an option for me. Good luck with Tasigna, I hope you feel as well as I do and get great results! in NY
