Guest guest
Hi ; I was diagnosed in October 2007, doing " OK " on Gleevec, like you, ALMOST to a 3.0 log reduction .... last was 2.7 I also work full time and we have a daughter who will be 5 in August. I have problems with the fatigue also, and some days have to take a nap for an hour after I get home from work. That is just how it is. My husband is wonderful, and while our daughter doesn't really understand, she often curls up next to me and watches a video or cartoon while I nap. We then have dinner, do bath time etc. Somehow it works out. I have not had the edema problem that so many have had. I do have some bone pain quite regularly, and battle with nausea if I don't take the Gleevec with enough food, but overall am doing OK with it. With this economy I am extremely lucky to have the income I do, and the benefits! My husband also works full time, but I make nearly 3 x his salary, so it is not possible for me to quit. In any case, I LOVE my job! Perhaps you can try and get your husband to help out a little more. Just this morning, he took our daughter out to run a few errands while I slept in. He even surprised me by getting all the groceries on the list I had started! He will even do laundry! I am blessed. We also have a housekeeper come in every 2 weeks, and that helps as I am just too tired to do all the 'big " cleaning. I realize that not everyone can do that, but if you can ... go for it! It takes away some of my " mommy guilt " about keeping the house clean! Hang in there! All of us are so lucky to be here in this time, with so many incredible CML drugs to help us. I am grateful that I have a very good chance of seeing my daughter grow up, and I know you must feel the same way with two darling little ones! Keep in touch, it would be nice to have another CML mom to talk to!
