Guest guest
Hello All! I met with the transplant Dr. in Hamilton and my local Dr. this week and wanted to give you an update... Transplant Dr. is thinking that I was diagnosed incorrectly in blast crisis and is not convinced I need to go to transplant..when I met with the local Dr. today and told her this she said maybe it's time to get some really experienced eyes looking at your case...she is emailing Dr. Cortes to get a consultation on this as she has never had anyone present in blast crisis - and neither has Dr. Lipton in Toronto who I saw back in January...I had some questions for her regarding my case and she really couldn't answer them...she also told me that she was going to do a write up on my case and present it at the European Hematological conference coming up soon, in the hopes that someone somewhere has dealt with a case like this... However, in the meantime I received the results of my PCR test done on Feb.11th - I have had a 2.82 log reduction (in only 2 months on Gleevec) and my local Dr. was very pleased with this - as was I...she said I was probably at a 3 log reduction by now - and she is petitioning for approval to have my pcr tests done every 6 weeks instead of every 3 months since my case is so " special " I am grateful that the Gleevec continues to work its miracles and pray that it continues...I am doing well, feeling good, and have lost almost 30 pounds so far on my new diet and exercise regimen... Hoping all is well with everyone! Cheryl
