Dear and Ashton,

It would be really helpful for me with my daughter to know what is going on with her that often (and not always) blocks loving expressions.

It would appear that that is because the interest is on herself, except when it isn't. The phrase: "frozen in indecision" just came into my mind.

I have the same problem. It's easy to see afterwards what you should have done, but not at the time.

I recognized myself in the part where he said you seem sad but I don't know what to do, and she said, can you hug me, and he answered yes, but she still had to say, I'd like you to hug me. Very much me. That happened the other day. One of my son's friend's mom came into our complex (we are apartment managers) and said her husband is divorcing her and throwing her out, and she started crying, and I stood there like a stone. My husband came up behind me and said to her, you look like you need a hug, and he hugged her. I felt awful that I didn't think of that and do it myself. I must have seemed cold to her. Will have to watch for that one if I can remember when it's happening.
