I am a member of the community development team at MedPanel, LLC, a Boston-based

market research company. We are currently working in cooperation with the

pharmaceutical company Bristol-Myers Squibb on chronic myelogenous leukemia

(CML) research.

Since you are part of this group, I am guessing that either you or a loved

one is currently affected by CML. This is a rare condition, as I'm sure you

know. We are looking to hear experiences from as many CML patients as possible,

and hoping that you can help.

The overall goal of our research is to hear from several dozen CML patients and

to gain insight on their treatment journey. Part of the research is to

understand how patients received information when they were first diagnosed with

CML. We want to learn what they expected along each step of the way, and to hear

about their individual experiences. The purpose of this is to create patient

education materials which will better inform people recently diagnosed with CML.

We need to understand the gaps in information, and the topics which are most

important so that the materials we create will be as helpful as possible for

everyone diagnosed with CML.

The second part of the research is to better understand the side effects brought

on by the major drugs (Sprycel, Tesigna and Gleevec) and to learn how people are

treating those side effects. We will also discuss issues such as the sort of

relationship CML patients have with their doctors, and the financial and

emotional needs that arise while fighting this illness. Our method of research

creates an enjoyable and informative atmosphere, where patients can discuss

these issues with one another. In our online discussions, we promote real

conversations among CML survivors, built around topics which are important to

them. It is an upbuilding and informative process.

We would like to invite you to take part in our online discussion. Participation

will take an estimated 90 minutes of your time, spread out over the course of

7-10 days. For your complete participation you will receive the payment of $150.

You may also be considered for a 45 minute follow-up phone interview, for which

you would receive an additional $75.

In order to be considered for participation, please copy and paste the link

below into your browser to answer a few preliminary questions.

The online discussion is scheduled to begin on March 24th or 25th. If you are

interested in participating, please answer the initial questions soon. You will

then be provided with more information about how our process works. If you have

any questions about this project, please contact me by phone or email.

I look forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you!

Also, please do not think this is spam. This is real research which will benefit

the standards of care for CML patients.
