I had a flight to Chicago, then to Kansas City yesterday. The first flight was delayed, and I couldn't connect to get to KS, so had to come home. today I have a flight to KS that is direct, no Chicago, great flight, why didn't they give me that in the beginning? So, as no one was available to pick me up yesterday, everyone else being in Kansas already for my grandson's wedding, it cost me $50 to get home, plus two $5.00 tips for the guys that wheel me in and out of the airport, plus $25.00 to check one pc. of luggage. It has cost me $90 and I'm still back home!! not liking this one bit. I rented a car for yesterday, with hotwire.com, cheap, but non refundable, and no one else could pick it up but me. So that was another $75.00 down the drain. REALLY not liking this trip. It would have been better to give the grand son the usual $100.00 wedding gift, and thrown in another 200 and stayed home!!!! But I'm sure there are a million similar stories out there,  I'm still early, so here's another airport story. I stayed in Houston for 3 months to be in the sprycel trial. I had my own wheel chair, and when I got to Cleveland and my daughter picked me up, I was so excited to be home, I left the wheel chair curbside, like it belonged to the airport - never saw that one again~!  And then there was the time way back in '66 when I flew from Los Angeles with my husband and two others, the gal had never flown, and got so scared, she got drunk. when the pilot boarded the plane she asked if he was going to get this #$%^^ & off the ground, and he called security and had us thrown off the plane!!! Imagine getting thrown off a plane, way back then??? Well, thanks group, if you took the time to read this, thanks for letting me waste my time and yours, here comes my ride, (to go see the bride) LOL Bobby a ( Bobby ) Doyle, dob 12/17/29 DX 5/1995 Interferon 9 weeks/Hydroxyurea 5 years 02/2000 to 06/2002 Gleevec trial, OHSU 06/2002 Gleevec/Trisenox Trial, OHSU 06/2003 Gleevec/Zarnestra Trial, OHSU 04/2004 Sprycel Trial, MDACC, CCR in 10 months 04/2008 XL228 Trial, U of Mich. 01/2009 PCR 5.69 04/2009 Ariad Trial AP24534 09/2009 PCR 0.01 11/2009 PCR 0.034 02/2010 PCRU #840 Zavie's Zero Club
Guest guest
There must have been a litrtle traveling " devil " following you around! You could collect traveling stories from others, too, and put them into a book. Traveling misadventures do get expensive really fast, though. Guest guest
Hi Bobby - I did take the time to read your story, because they are always worth reading. I have had some inconvenient flights with stay overs in the airports, but it didn't cost me extra. You have the right attitude. Getting mad would only have made you feel worse. Lord knows I held back on many occasions too. We make the best of bad situations no matter the cost. I truely hope you enjoyed yourself once you arrived. I hope your return home will be better.
