Guest guest
Well, one website I saw said to use oil of oregano for toenail fungus. I guess that is one way to use it. I personally would not take it orally unless in capsules. Strike that one up to experience, Lynn. Lynda At 05:45 PM 3/31/2007, you wrote: >Thanks for the laugh Lynn. Guest guest
Lynn, Did the directions say to put them under your tongue? That's weird....that is not normally how it is taken, as oil of oregano can be pretty caustic and cause ulcers if used directly on mucous membranes. Many times oil of oregano is combined with olive oil for that reason. Any liquid oil of oregano I have used was in water or tea. It doesn't mix well, but at least it is not directly on the tissues full strength. Maybe try diluting it first if you are using it straight from the vial. Guest guest
My husband and son will take it only if they are really sick. They add it to a glass full of water. I prefer the capsules. Guest guest
Patty, The instructions read - take one or several drops under the tongue or in juice/water daily. Rub topically (heat sensation is normal). Not for use by children or pregnant or nursing women. Avoid contact with eyes. Flush Immediately. It was VERY hot under my tongue and the taste was horrid!! I ran to the kitchen and drank water. When it went down my throat my mouth and throat were numb for a short bit. Hope it worked I would like to get some benefit from that experience. Guest guest
I like " Oreganol " drops, but they also make it in a gel cap that is probably easier on the taste buds, especially if it is for a child (although you can put the drops in juice. Oreganol drops are already mixed with the right balance of olive oil for easier ingestion. Whatever brand you get, just make sure that it says P73, wild oregano hand picked from the Mediterranean. -Trish > > > what is the most effective brand of oil of oregano. Guest guest
-Hey Dani- We have used oil of oregano for a couple of years. I take it myself during cold season and have oregaspray for sore throats. I have used it successfully on nail fungus and disinfecting the nair care products, bad infections on things like finger cuts, cut it with olive oil to help ear infections. I have a hard time getting it into my son. It can be put right on pasta after the pasta is cooked and put a drop or 2 of oregano oil on it. The best success we have had is putting it on the soles of his feet while he sleeps then covering with sock, suposed to go through the skin. I gave some capsules to a friend whose downs syndrome child swallows capsules and it cleared up his ear infection that they had been at emergency for. She took the oregacyn instead of antibiotics and it cleared right up. She is now giving him probiotics before and after stopping its use. Her son has had 3 surgeries on his ears due to repeated infections. She says she might keep him on the oregano for all of the winter since it has no adverse effects. My advice is get good stuff that is very effective. We use North American Herb and Spice brand. Guest guest
I have used oregano oil for my asthma. I was on albuteral and pulmacort one year and I hate taking anything not natural so I asked my nutrition store and they told me to take oil of oregano and it really works. Use it for coughs, asthma or anything alergy related. it's great! Hey val, have you tried putting some in juice and giving it through a dropper? That's the only way I can get my son to take anything. He hates it and whines a little but I do get it down him that way. Re: OIL OF OREGANO Can you tell me exactly how you give it for ear infections? Guest guest
So is there a significant difference between Oil of Oregano, and Olive Leaf Extract? I'm wondering if Oil of Oregano would be good for my son (no Autism), who has been dx w/ Reactive Airway Disease, and seems to always be horse, or have a cough. He doesn't take any meds, but we have albuterol and a nebulizer for when we need it. Thanks - CC > > > > -Hey Dani- > > We have used oil of oregano for a couple of years. Guest guest
> So is there a significant difference between Oil of Oregano, and > Olive Leaf Extract? Oil of oregano works as anti-fungal and anti-bacterial. Olive leaf extract works as anti-viral and anti-bacterial. My son did not tolerate oil of oregano, but olive leaf extract was WONDERFUL. Guest guest
Oil of oregano for my son was big time anti viral and caused major behavior issues as he kicked out shingles, measles and herpes cold sores. It was great but we could not use it long term as he had to return to school and could not with all those viruses coming out. Plan to use it again over break and see what happens Stacia " I haven't failed; I've found 10, 000 ways that don't work " Edison

Guest guest
>>Is OoO an antibacterial, antifungal, or both? My best understanding is that it is an effective antibacterial for certain specific types of infection, such as some things that like to grow in the lungs, and also a broad spectrum anti-fungal. I use it anytime I have been exposed to something fungal or if, for example, someone at work remarks that they feel like they are coming down with pneumonia and I suddenly start feeling real bad (because I am highly prone to respiratory infections). -- Michele talithamichele@... http://www.atraceofme.com Send a letter. Guest guest
> > Is OoO an antibacterial, antifungal, or both? > > > Both > > Dana ***** I love that science is catching up to what you all on this list already know! Pubmed has quite a few new studies on oil of oregano and related essential oils. They're studying OoO and related EOs to help extend shelf life, particularly of meats. They're testing against food-born pathogens including bacteria and yeasts and some protozoan parasites. OoO does well in studies against different fungi/yeasts including candida, athlete's foot, fingernail & toe fungus and others. It's been favorably tested against e-coli, listeria, salmonella, staph, pseudomonas, It supports the liver, in research studies it's showing regeneration of the liver. It appears to be anti-mutagenic. A Chinese study identified 29 componenents of OoO, the most significant are thymol and carvacrol. One study tested individually and then in combination -- OoO, salt and heat. That combo should wipe out most infections!! Tbyme (same herb family) and cinnamon scored next in line behind OoO. I figured the fungus can kill you the blisters cant. I have a high odasity for pain!!!!!!!! Yeh mine says to dilute in juice but I wanted to make sure fungus was under control.
