Guest guest
Hi Krista, Things went very well with the baby! The newborn stage is so sweet and amazing. I just held her for hours, fed her every two hours and changed quite a few diapers! Yeah, wouldn't it be neat if we were pregnant at the same time? Although when I passed by a mirror in the house, it just didn't look right w/ me holding her. Partly because of my age and partly because she has thick jet black hair and hubby and I are both blonde. Glad your rash is clearing. Where is the condo? I feel for you with the hot tub decision! It seems like lately I'm torn between going with the flow and doing what's best for my body. That's a tough one! Maybe you can hang out in there for a little while and then do a foot bath that evening. If you do soak, make sure you rinse in the shower afterwards. I think I must have missed your first couple postings about the rash. Had you been in a pool or hot tub shortly before? Yes, I'm signing up for the Maker's Diet recipes too because it'll help me stay on track, and like you said, we're ALL getting sick of chicken around here...even my youngest complains and he's not an adventurous eater! We've tried expanding on the meats with bison, ground turkey, and lamb. Outside of that I'm reluctant to experiment even though I've heard liver is so nutritious! Today I'm home alone but I'm treating myself to some indian food...this is huge for me because I'm not much of a cook! But, the Whole Foods Chef told me to take a lamb tenderloin and rub it with the spice Garam Masala and bake. With this I'll have a salad and the side dish is going to be boiled new potatoes, onions and peas with Indian curry. I don't know much about indian foods but the spices are very healing and cleansing to the body and it tastes soooo good! I am sure my mother-in-law is looking down on me from Heaven and is very pleased...she used to give me cookbooks all the time, hoping I'd cook for her son. Now she's finally getting her wish! I need a house cleaner! You're lucky you've got one. What kinds of foods are you getting for when your sis is there? I need some ideas. If you go to Whole Foods, they have a vegetable hummus that's pretty good for snacking. Guest guest
PH- Your Indian meal sounds fabulous! I need to get more into cooking too! I used to love to cook and try out new recipes, but since getting sick I hardly have the energy to plan meals anymore. I've just been going with the basics/easy to prepare stuff lately. I'm sure hubby would appreciate some more variety in our dinners though. Hopefully, The Maker's Diet will give me some new ideas for cooking, meals that taste good but are nutritious! We've never ventured beyond chicken, beef and fish, I think it would be fun to try some other meats that Dr. Rubin suggests. No, I wasn't in a hot tub lately. The rash sorta came out of no where. But, I do remember getting a rash or two very similar to this one after going in hot tubs and pools with too much chlorine (you know when you can really smell it...yuck!) If I do go in the hot tub this weekend, I will make sure and rinse off afterward. The condo is up in Estes Park, near Rocky Mountain National Park. Have you been to Estes Park? It is very cute...I'm sure the other Colorado ladies have been there. Should be fun! The boys are going to snow shoe! I'm going to try really hard not to go off my diet while my sister is here, but I know I am going to have to cook foods that everyone likes, so the diet will probably be slightly different then what I have been eating, but I'm still going to steer clear of sugars, processed foods and fast food (never liked those much anyway.) We'll probably do tacos, spaghetti, stir fry....those kinds of meals. Easy and fast, everyone will like, but still pretty good for you. Yes, the housekeeper is awesome, and well worth the money! I just told huby that either he does 50% of the cleaning (because this house is too much for me to do alone,) or we get a housekeeper...guess which one do you think he chose? :-) It's much easier for us because we can concentrate on other things on the weekends. I'm so excited to start our diet! Yeah! Love, Krista > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Krista, > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I used to get a heated rash after getting out of the > > > shower... Guest guest
Krista, I know what you mean about not having energy to prepare meals. I kept it very simple for the first 5 months and then slowly branched out trying fennel, dandelion roots, parnsips, spaghetti squash, etc. I'm still not hugely adventurous but after reading some of Nourishing Traditions cookbook, I'm adding little things that make a difference. Like when I make tacos, I often use ground chicken or turkey from Whole Foods and make sure I get some healthy fats by adding avocado. Instead of sour cream I'll use a dollop of plain kefir. I add a lot of raw onion for my antifungal. I throw on some cilantro because it helps the body excrete heavy metals....little easy things that can make a difference in health. For spaghetti I ended up replacing noodles with spaghetti squash...took some getting used to but I don't have to worry about gluten. You can buy gluten free pasta but I haven't found one I like yet and most contain a huge source of starch. Was your rash bumpy? I've had a rash from a hot tub before but it was a red, bumpy, painful zit-like rash over my entire torso and legs. It was bacterial folliculitis...from improper chemical balance in the hot tub....disgusting!!! Lasted for months. Yes, I've been to Estes Park. My parents honeymooned there and so my sister decided to get married there for sentimental reasons...it's so beautiful there! You and your sis will have so much fun! So how long is she staying? Will her girls be with her? I like the approach you used w/ your husband regarding the cleaner! Unfortuntely I don't think it'd work w/ mine as he's the type to save in any way he can. He grew up in a family where they darned their socks if there was a hole, rather than going out and buying a $2 pack of socks. He'd rather clean himself than pay someone to do it So that's what he's been doing...which I'm not complaining but I can't wait til my energy returns to where I can do my old chores!! Guest guest
Hi girls! Don't forget about me...LOL! I want a baby too as soon as I start to feel better. Hopefully within a few months we can start trying. I'm really do for a baby. I took my two younger cousins to go see the movie Alvin and the Chipmunks last night. It was cute. I used to love that cartoon when I was a child. Steph > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Krista, > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I used to get a heated rash after getting out of the > > > shower... Guest guest
I was told by my Doc ortho in NJ to use less that 1% on young babies. More than that is too much. So I found mine at CVS pharmacy but duane reade and rite aid did not have the LESS than 1% type. Good luck and only use a little. It is a steriod. Guest guest
We used 1% when my daughter had heat rash. She got it in her side burn area. If it is heat rash you would want to dress him a little lighter so he doesn't get sweaty. And if he is sweaty take off the band and wipe the band and his head with a towel before putting it back on. and of course wash his hair regularly to keep his skin from getting irritated (very mild shampoo if he's sensitive). -christine sydney 2 years old on Saturday! > > Did anyone deal with a rash on the back of the head. Guest guest
Is heat rash kind of prickly (only word that is coming to mind) looking dark red dots on top of lighter red? That is what I always thought heat rash was and that is what it looked like on the base of his band when he first got it until I got his temp under control. This is red and blotchy. I don't think he has an allergy to it because he has been it it almost two months and this just started. I have been using the Aveeno creamy on his head since he was a couple weeks old he has very sensitive skin and breaks out from the johnson and johnson wash. I also think things show up more on him than they did on my daughter because he is so pale compared to her, He got his donors sensitive Irish skin and its a whole new experience for me. Guest guest
HI everyone, I have been reading the posts about the rash and just thought I'd offer my 2 cents. My ortho said that if a red rash developed on Damian's head that we should take the helmet off emmediately and go see his pediatrician for tx. They said it's a kind of allergic reaction to the foam in the helmet. While the coritizone cream would help a heat rash, I would want to make sure it's not an allergic reaction to the foam. Any how- just a thought. , Mom to Damian 6 months old, Somerville, MAdawndvl <dawndvl@...> wrote: Is heat rash kind of prickly (only word that is coming to mind)looking dark red dots on top of lighter red? Guest guest
Might be Fifth's disease. Viral symptoms followed by a prominant rash on cheeks that may spread throughout the body. My son just had it recently. Child is no longer infectious once rash appears and there is no treatment (except a little TLC). Rash can take 2 weeks to 1 month to fully dissapear. I looked up pictures of rashes on the internet to figure out what my son had....it's pretty easy to identify if it's Fifth's. > > Hi > I was wondering if my son's rash is related to his fever. Nothing to show us that he is uncomfortable. The flu is going around like crazy so most probably he's picked it up. Why the rash though? He seems content and actually more talkative then ever. He will initiate conversation with us. My husband and I also noticed that he talks less to himself. He used to mumble things to himself , it appears that all stimming has stopped. Guest guest
Yep, this is Fifth's, our little one just had it, she never missed a day of school, no fever until the last day and then vomited once, and it was over. Don't use antibiotics, they won't help, there is no treatment for Fifth's. But it doesn't last long, although the rash will appear off and on sporadically. Re: rash Might be Fifth's disease. A few days ago he started with low grade fever, now he is complaining his throat hurts. The rash started with one side of his face, then on the other side. It seems to travel, back, stomach, and now also on his legs. They are red, flat and odd large shapes, like pieces of a puzzle. The odd time, me might scratch them. We are continuing with his supps and vitamins but I was wondering how far apart can we give him some motrin to relieve the pain in his throat? Lastly, I plan to take him to the medical clinic tomorrow to have them look at his > throat and the rash. If they prescribe antibiotics for an infection can I give it to him? How will it intefere with the probiotics and his protocol? How far apart can an anitbiotic be given with the biomedics my son is currently on? > > Tks so much in advance, any info would be much appreciated. > > Helen > > > --------------------------------- > Be smarter than spam. Guest guest
I personally developed a rash with blisters one day after excercising. It was the second day of my body detox and I was told by several natural health people that it was my body trying to get the toxins out - by excercising I was sweating and the sweating was forcing it quicker than normal. I don't know if it is true, but could it be the same type of thing in your case? the skin rash develops as the toxins come our through the skin? > From: Amy <rnanjnc@...> > Subject: [ ] Rash > > Date: Thursday, June 5, 2008, 11:13 AM > While trying the 8 hour dosing with ALA, Colby developed a > small rash > on his back. > > During the first round of 8 hour dosing we saw this same > rash but > thought he scraped his back. Guest guest
Hi, I would consider taking high levels of Vitamin C powder to bowel tolerance, colloidal silver drops under the tongue (5 or more squirts every couple hours), and maybe oregano oil put into capsules (no more than 12 drops spread out during the day) and burdock root capsules. Then i would take a spray bottle with colloidal silver and mist it directly on the spots. I would do this as often as possible, and maybe dab plain 3% hydrogen peroxide on the ringworm in between the silver uses, not mixing the two. There is a wonderful website with lots of natural cures and help: http://www.doctoryourself.com/index.html I hope this is helpful and you recover quickly, Joy From: lorimjohnston <lorimjohnston@...> Subject: Rash Dr Date: Monday, August 25, 2008, 10:07 AM I am wondering if anyone out there can summarize what Dr. says about skin rashes - probably ringworm or some type of fungus, but I am not sure. It started as a definite ringworm looking spot on my arm a week or 2 ago, and is now all over my entire torso. A few look like the arm one, the rest look like hives. I have read all her books but not the purple one yet, so I am wondering if she had included anything new on this topic. Also, if you have a good summary of the past books on this topic, go ahead with that. I am kind of desperate not to pass this on to my children if it is contagious. Thank you so much! Guest guest
If the rash is all over it could be an allergic reaction. If it is heat rash it is usually in certain areas (for my daughter it was the sideburns). Heat rash is tiny red bumps, and clears up with a little hydrocortizone. You can let it dry then put the band back on, and keep him cooler. However if you do put the band back on, do frequent checks to make sure it isn't getting worse. If it is an all over rash I would leave the band off. -christine sydney, almost 3 yrs, starband grad > > So has been in his helmet since last Wednesday. Guest guest
Hi Lyndsi-- Our LO has been in his band since Friday, and we are battling heat rash- -maybe that's what is going on with your LO?. Merrick's actually doesn't have the little bumps that they sometimes speak of, his is one big blotch and shows up mostly on his forehead. Over the weekend we were so convinced that it was skin break-down that we took him into CT this am. They guarenteed us that it was heat rash. We were told to use hydrocortosene cream on the rashy spots, 1% or less, which made it go away, pointing to heat rash. We were told do remove the helmet from time to time to wipe down his head even though we don't feel like he is sweating. We are keeping clothing off of him for the most part and running the ceiling fan in his room at night. They tell us that he will adjust, his body just has to get use to it. But it's hard to think of them going through that. Our LO is the same way--not a single complaint about the helmet. H. Guest guest
Yes it is only in a small area where the helmet is adding pressure (ie, the "un flat" side of his head). Ortho says its a heat rash, small red bumps. He suggested a pure talc powder. I will give that a try I guess. could care less, it doesn't seem to bother him at all. Thanks for the advice! BTW, what is moles skin that you are talking about.....have no clue!!! Guest guest
Is anything different? New soap? New shampoo? I would definitely call and see what they say. It was looking pretty bad this morning so I took it off, cleaned it with alcohol and am sitting it outside to UV ray the thing to death. I also put hydrocortisone cream on my guys rash and am letting him go without the helmet till it clears up. Is this the right thing to do? Should I be waiting to put the helmet back on till the rash goes away? Is there something else I could do to prevent this from happening again? Should I call CT? Guest guest
Call CT. There are some creams you can use while wearing the helmet and depending on how bad the rash is, you might not even need to leave it off for an extended period of time. Our helmet is made by Danmar but were were told triple antibiotic cream and aquaphor are both safe to use. If the rash is bad enough, have a doctor look at it. It's possible and not all that uncommon to get a rash that needs something more to treat it. We had a spot appear soon after Elaine had her first helmet that needed treatment. It wasn't bad enough to discontinue use of the helmet and cleared up within a couple weeks once she was medicated. Guest guest
The past few days I have been using s Soothing Vapor Baby bath since he has been very congested. Other than that he did get an adjustment on monday from his third orthotist at CT. Is it normal to have so many different people working on his helmet? Thanks, From: Holly <hollyloo@...>Plagiocephaly Sent: Friday, January 9, 2009 12:00:27 PMSubject: Re: rash Is anything different? Guest guest
if it was me, i'd go back to his normal shampoo and run a cool-mist humidifier (plus the dreaded saline + bulb sucker) for congestion and see if that rash goes away.i'd still call ct as well.as for so many orthotists working on his helmet, i'm not sure i'd like that too much. we haven't had an adjustment yet, but i hope it'll be the same person we saw for the scan and the initial fit.
