Guest guest
Hey Chuck, I think you sound familiar. There are lots of people like you hacking into " alternative medicine websites " pretending to be looking for help when in fact they are the Webmasters for Anti-Natural Medicine like the " Quackbusters " . I have been researching for natural cures and preventive trreatments for the past 5 years (Doing better without the Merck and other laboratories, thank you). and in every single website I " see " people like Chuck. You know what? Why don't you just tell us what you are, what do you represent??? > > No; most patent medicines do not have any effectiveness proven. > > > > I don't know that so called patent medicines are actually patented; I > > doubt it. ... > > They never were patented. " The older term for such concoctions was " nostrum > remedium, " (our remedies) from which we derive the derogatory nickname, > " nostrum. " Snake oil by any other name is still snake oil. > > Chuck >

Guest guest
I agree--Great people are Pisces. The greatest woman I've ever known was my grandmother--a beautiful, talented, deelpy spiritual Pisces!! You know what? Why don't you just tell us what you are, > what do you represent??? > I fail to see how my historical comment on patent medicines warranted any of your ignorant accusations. I do not hack into any websites, alternative medicines or otherwise. I do not pretend to look for help, and I am not a webmaster for any kind of site, Anti-Natural Medicine or others. I have been hypothyroid and subscribed to this list long enough to be classed as an oldtimer. If I represent anything beside myself, it is science, both by training and profession. However, my specialty is in the hard sciences, although I have recently been involved in research in biomedical applications of particle accelerators. I do not represent any commercial interest whatsoever, let alone pharmaceutical companies. Considering the gross intemperance of your remarks, I think you owe me an apology. Perhaps you ought to take a snake oil with a lower concentration of ethanol. Chuck

Guest guest
well.....I can understand her point b/c I despise the Quackwatch mentality. My BB doc who was the best is listed on that site! But I don't think Chuck is of that ilk. A lot of good double blind studies and peer reviewed publications have done us. Most people get very poor healthcare. Gracia > Could be! Guest guest
Yes .....sometimes I just hit the roof when I see terms like " peer reviewed " - when I'm low from yet another useless doctor's appointment usually. So I also understand the outburst but doesn't make it OK to jump to conclusions about Chuck. My pet peeve about scientific studies is that science is elevated to infallible status by all those esteemed peers and it seems to be forgotten that science is merely the formulation of POSSIBLE hypotheses to explain observable behaviour. That's it - no more no less. But these Doctors behave like these studies are gospel. aaargh OK off the soap box now! LOL Kerry Re: Snake oil well.....I can understand her point b/c I despise the Quackwatch mentality. My BB doc who was the best is listed on that site! But I don't think Chuck is of that ilk. Guest guest
Dear Phil, I agree with you 120%. I had a friend who had a BMT and was refractory. She wanted to prove a point that she could be cured on Chinese herbs. She came to Texas and when she found out her insurance would not pay for these items, she was headed back home. She was also at a Dallas hospital, and thought they didn't give her the proper care, so she left there, too. I am sad to report that she died in the desert in Arizona because the little hospital they brought her to did not have irradiated blood. I find this hard to believe because it is supposed to be simple to cleanse the blood. That would have only been a stopgap, temporary fix anyway. She saw what I looked like on Gleevec, and she said she would rather die. Well she got her wish. She tried to convince me to stop Gleevec, but I refused. A DLI would have probably brought her back to chronic. What happened to her was gruesome and I shed many tears over the senseless loss of my friend. In all probability we will never know how many people who died because they stopped taking their approved CML meds. It is now nearing the 5th anniversary of her death, and I relive it every year on the anniversary of her death. Still grieving, Lottie Duthu
