Guest guest
Wonderful topic huh? lol, dd (8, CVID) has been obsessed with her girlie parts the past week, complaining of pain and itching. She was scratching so much she was bleeding. Took her to the Dr yesterday and she has a yeast infection. Never occurred to me! She had severe chronic yeast diaper rashes as a baby and testing shows she has no ability to fight them off. We finally managed to kick it by using Gentian Violet and after that only had to deal with yeast rashes every couple of months until she was out of diapers but none ever got as bad as before when we used nystatin for 4 months with no results. The GV cured it within 3 days:) Anyway, Dr said to use Monistat cream externally but I've tried it and it burned like heck so I'm not inclined to put it on my 8 yr old. I whipped out the GV and painted her girlie parts purple (which she thought was amusing) after her shower and when she woke up in the morning she exclaimed " Mom! My pee pee is cured! It doesn't itch or hurt anymore!!!! " It was pretty comical:) I'll do it 1x a day for 2 more days to make sure its totally eradicated since past experience has taught us to do it for 3 days. Oddly enough I realized my girls parts were itchy and yesterday I was going nuts so I painted myself this morning after my shower and holy cow that stuff works fast! So for those of us with kids who are prone to yeast infections you might want to give GV a try. If you Google it and yeast you will find tons of info on its safety and how to use it. The only down side is it stains everything is comes in contact with but it beats Monistat hands down!
