Guest guest
Is it possible to have a herx if you aren't on any meds? I just started my Minocycline today but have felt like #%@* & #* ever since that rotation diet and adding all the supplements. A lot weaker for sure and the weight loss is concerning. I hope the Minocycline is enough to knock some of this horrible stuff out! Bev
Guest guest
YES YOUR LABS CAN BE JUST FINE AND YOU CAN FEEL LIKE CRAP!!!! That's me right now! Well, at least they say all of my labs are fine though some of them show differences to my regular results when I feel well, but they don't pay much attention to that as long as the numbers are somewhere in the normal range. So they just tell me all my labs look fine, and look at me crosseyed when my complaints don't magically go away just because my labs are fine.I know it is very frustrating, and sometimes I feel crazy but we just have to hang in there. I know that all of the people on this group have definately helped me keep my sanity because I am having a herx from hell, but the Dr's won't acknowledge that...they just say hmmm...we don't know...your labs look fine (and hey...they even did that to me when I would have a flare sometimes just because my symptoms (ie swelling) weren't visible during the office visit) Anyway.... So I have had to figure out most of this on my own. But I really believe AP will work, and I just try to keep in mind that it is a slow road and I have to take charge of my health and not allow the Dr's to try and tell me how I should feel. I know how I feel, and I tell you if they felt like this for a half a day they would probably be doing more or at least be nicer. But anyway...I'm rambling now. Thanks for listening to my gripe session, and hang in there! I'm rooting for you and I know we have had a lot of similar symptoms so stay in touch! Take care sweetie! Youre a survivor!! > > Just got a call from my doctor that up to now, my labs are fine. He hasn't > got the 's test back yet though. Could your labs be fine and you > still feel like crap. Guest guest
Bev, my guess is that it is a flare, not a herx. I would think your disease is progressing - especially with the symptom of the weight loss. One of the concerns in the beginning of my problem when I was having the stomach distress was that my body was not processing my foods properly. I was told to do: l-glutamine for the stomach lining, liquid predigested collagen PROTEIN - this brand is Solgar - containing supplemental protein with essential amino acids. I was already doing super enzymes and continued to do so but adding this to my aloevera juice intake daily, becoming more disciplined in doing my juice/lemon kidney/liver drink every morning and doubling my intake of acidolphalis (I know I misspelled that one) brought me out of this. Everything returned to normal. Oh, yes, I also followed instructions and take ! the l-glutathione (two pills broken and the powder distributed under the tongue to dissolve - to protect the liver. I also take adrenal gland support in the way of supplements. When everything came to a crisis here with Sommer's depression, I neglected me and were I to have had tests run again, I am not sure it would have shown my disease to be at a complete halt at that time like before. However, that said, the greatest gift is that I have been taught now how to take care of myself and I realized that not sleeping, not taking my supplements and becoming really sloppy on the diet was turning the clock back. Knowing how I have turned around again, I would definitely suggest you try all of this. Of course, having said that, I am praying that you will get the clindy iv's also. And Bev, don't forget all that water to drink and make absolutely sure you are taking a BUNCH of the supplements to prevent the yeast from getting worse. I have a feeling you are still floating in it. I say that from all I read from the other group battling SD who are just eaten up with yeast and they are not doing the AP. Are you having a lot of gas, indigestion or diarrhea? Love, Is it possible to have a herx if you aren't on any meds? I just started my Minocycline today but have felt like #%@* & #* ever since that rotation diet and adding all the supplements. A lot weaker for sure and the weight loss is concerning. Guest guest
C3 and C4 are called Complements, which are proteins that are used by the immune system. During inflammation C3 & C4 are usually decreased since the immune system uses them up. An increase can occur in cancer and ulcerative colitis. CRP is another way to measure inflammation, but is more accurate than the sed rate. It is manufactured by the liver and is released during episodes of inflammation. http://uwcme.org/courses/rheumatology/rheumlab/crp.html http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003456.htm a > Hi...I got this in the mail just now: > > C3 - 192 (96-185) > C4 - 72 (18-53) > C Reactive Protein - 3.3 (0.0-1.8) > Sed Rate - 91 (0 - 20) > > I'm not as familiar with the first three values as I am the sed rate. > > Love... > > Tess > > > >

Guest guest
......So glad things have gone well for you. A suggestion as to what to do now. Perhaps consider staying on a mon-wed-Friday 100 mg minocin schedule for maintenance. It has been my experience that the bacteria will hide and go dormant while waiting for an opportune time to reappear. I stay on the three day schedule and it seems to keep things in remission. My daughter, who hates to stay on meds, opted to go off entirely when she reached remission. It lasted a few months and then all the aches and pains started to reappear. She is now back on the twice a tablet, everyday schedule. I told her the remission might have lasted longer if she had stayed on the maintanance dose. Its just a thought. Guest guest
Phil, Thanks a million for this article. I will show it to my doctor. Hopefully, this will dispel any problem he has with continuing my therapy. I feel really good now with the therapy I am on and do not want to go back to feeling like I was before TRT. Also, I see Dr. mentioned quite a bit. Does he accept out of state patients? I may consider contacting him if my PC does not feel comfortable with continuing my therapy. Guest guest
In short, lodine can elevate liver enzymes in among a host of other adverse effects. I am wondering if trimethylglycine (TMG) and cysteine (NAC) might be helpful to the liver. And of course milk thistle flavonoid. > My primary care doctor has found the optimal TRT treatment program > for me, and my last labs showed a testosterone level of 730, which is > a good level for me. Guest guest
I suspect you're right that it is SGOT (AST). Mine is slightly elevated as well. I'm not sure what the amount is. My doctor and I are simply monitoring the level while I continue my treatment. The elevated value doesn't necessarily indicate liver damage. Damage to muscle tissue will cause this as well. Strenuous exercise can cause a rise due to the trauma to the muscle tissue. If you're working hard enough to develop an inflammatory condition, you may well be working hard enough to damage muscle enough to boost your SGOT. My doctor pointed out that receiving intramuscular injection necessarily damages muscle tissue a bit. So, so long as I am on injection therapy, he takes that into account when assessing my liver function. Since you are both injecting and exercising, I wouldn't sweat it too much. This link may be informative: http://www.webmd.com/hw/liver_disease/hw20331.asp Note it says under " What affects the Test " : Reasons you may not be able to have the test or why the results may not be helpful include: .. .. .. * Strenuous exercise, injury to a muscle, or injections into a muscle. Also, you may find this link interesting to read: http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=724604 Brad Which enzyme is elevated? Guest guest
I was noticing that Iodine looks at lot like Lodine when I use a low case L such that it looks like the following lodine which somethinfg it is not. Lodine is a NSAID. Lodine is a generic name and as such is written with a small case L most of the time. While the Docs hand them out like candy they are as a drug class are rather nasty. Never combine Tylenol (acetaminophen) and a NSAID such as Aleve or ibuprofen as this combo is hard on kidneys, IMO. Plus at least some seem to stress the liver. > > My primary care doctor has found the optimal TRT treatment > program > > for me, and my last labs showed a testosterone level of 730, which > is > > a good level for me. Guest guest
I know how you feel. PCP every two weeks for acupuncture, rheumy every 6 weeks (up from every 4, YAY!) for follow-up and labs, endocronologist every 12 weeks, dentist every 12 weeks, plus orthpod as needed, and opthamalogist and gynocolgist once a year . . . mammograms twice a year. Guest guest
Looking at your labs I don't feel you have testicular failure your testis are atrophied because they are not getting enough LH to tell them to make more testosterone. Also your Prolactin is high this and your low LH looks like a Pituitary Problem you should have an MRI done to rule out a tumor. Also you need your Estradiol tested first if this is very high it can be why your LH is low. But it is to late to check your LH again when you get Estradiol down because your on the gel and this will keep your LH levels down. So you could do a HCG Stim. test read this link from the AACE Guildlines. http://www.aace.com/pub/pdf/guidelines/hypogonadism.pdf This link is about high Estradiol and low T in men. http://jcem.endojournals.org/cgi/content/full/89/3/1174 This link is a good read about low t in men. http://www.griffinmedical.com/male_hormone_modulation_therapy.html I can't for the life of me figure out why Dr.'s Endo's don't do more testing to find out why a man has low T levels. They just put you on Testosterone and then it's to late to do most testing. Even coming off T meds you don't know what is going on because you never go back to how you were before T meds. biceps72 <no_reply > wrote: PLEASE EXCUSE ME, i am new to this board although i posted 1 thread recently. He ran some lab tests -- I need help with these numbers-- thanking you in advance (norms are in parentheses) Testosterone = 1.88 ng/ml (1.75-7.81)TSH = 2.03 MCiU/ml (0.4-4.00) TOTAL TESOSTERONE = 171 L ng/dL (241-827) sex hormone binding globulin = 24 nmol/L (15-49) albumin = 4.3 g/dl (3.5-4.9) Tesosterone, Free = 42 pg/m (34-194) Testosterone, free + WB = 83 L ng/dl (84-402) Beta-HCG, quant-serum = 0.6 miU/ml (0.00-5.0) LH-2 = 19.8 miU/ml (1.2-8.6) Prolactin-2 = 15.8 ng/ml (2.6-13.1) I was given a prescription for androgel, 5 mg/day-- tesosterone went to 5.43ng/ml (1.75-7.81) but was still tired so doc upped doage to 12,5 mg/day anf testosterone inreased to 11 ng/ml. doc lowered dose to 7.5 mg/day but testosterone stayed up at 10.5 ng/ml. then doc lowered dosage back to 5 mg/day and tesosterone has stayed very constant at 5.5 ng/ml energy is better but not normal, libido is really back and erections are pretty strong and last without viagra. My testicles are much smaller than they should be, will they stay that way???? ANYTHING ABOUT THESE NUMBERS THAT JUMP OUT AT THE EXPERTS??? THANKING EVERYONE IN ADVANCE-- I AM SOOOOO GLAD I FOUND THIS BOARD Co-Moderator " Don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see.
