Guest guest
This has been one the worse things for me, I also have pain in my lower back. I have severe muscle spasms it use to just be in my legs but went to my whole body especially my armsdecided to join in for a few hours one night and into the morning. I went to the ER and the doctor there told me I had something neurological which we already knew but thought it was MS. Since my MRI's which are NOT good test and often do not show anything. Well I read about two other auto-immune diseases and the two of them combined have all my symptoms also since they say when you have one you easily really be dealing with three different illness and that is part of the problem with dianoises. When I thought I had RA and Ankylosing my lower back would swell causing me not to be able to walk no one ever looked at it. That is what happens in both these other illnesses. My husband was shocked they are very simular and yet have different symptoms which happen to be the ones I have. I have an appointment with another neurologist on Jan1. IF I don't get into see this other doctor I am wanting to go to. My daughter only has class with the woman who went to him one day a week and she wont see her next week because of Thanksgiving. anyway the Klonopin and Flexerill really helped with mine before they got too bad. Sometimes you can actually have too much potassium and that will cause your legs to do the same thing. I tried Calcium and Potassium for a long time too and they did not help mine. If you are on AP though you should stay on the Calcium I took it when I was on AP. Hope you all have a happy Thanksgiving!!!! peace, Sherry I have been taking calcium tablets, potassium and magnesium, but my LEGS are aching like crazy. They feel as though, I am carry around 50 lbs weights.. I am taking Lopid for trigerlydics (sp) and Klonopin for leg twitching. Any suggestions, besides " shooting my legs off. " caversa@... Guest guest
Jan, Get your doctor to check for blood clots. I had those same symptoms and several different doctors chalked it up to back problems because I wasn't running fever. I was admitted to the hospital for tests on my back when, after 4 or 5 days, I started running fever. Unfortunately, by that time my lungs were full of blood clots and it was a life threatening situation! I hope this is not what is going on with you, but I don't think you ought to just wait for it to go away. Good Luck, Layne -----Original Message-----From: Ian & Janet [mailto:ianjanaust@...]Sent: Sunday, January 12, 2003 12:33 PM Subject: [ ] LEGS Yesterday I came home from a weekend away and want to ask you all a question. A new 'pain' has cropped up, not serious, but my legs are becoming so painful when walking. I walk for a few minutes, then it feels as if my muscles are being slowly squeezed which become so painful Ive have to stop and wait a few minutes before my legs can function once again. It was/is impossible to continue walking until I rested. After a few minutes standing still it all subsides until I start walking again which Im fine for a little while then the same thing happens. Anyway else experiencing anything like this? Im not worried about it but its so debilitating. Jan
Guest guest
I am on Sprycel, but I seem to have trouble with my legs these last few days. The kids had vacation and we drove to Asheville, NC (about 8 hours from our home) and when we arrived and upon the return, my legs felt " heavy " and would not respond very well. Have any of you ever experienced that? Matt Florida
Guest guest
I agree. And it happens in cycles. The more you sit the more you swell. If you are a coffee drinker try a big cup of coffe to get the pee festival started. Asparagas helps if you like that. Watermelon is good. More water more water!!! And NO soda!!! I also get tingling in my fingers and hands too Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry [ ] Re: Legs Hi Matt, I get like that often, especially if I've spent too long sitting at the computer. I could be wrong but I suspect it's a combination of water retention and blood pooling in the lower extremities (due to the immobility). When it happens to me, I try to increase my fluids (to make me pee more) and exercise to get the blood moving. Guest guest
Yes, for three hours or so but my problem was it was not any better the next day. I will try Lasics and exercise as I am normally pretty active. Guest guest
Try to keep your feet elevated as much as possible, it improves the circulation. Guest guest
Hi Matt: I can relate to what happened to you. Everytime we have taken a trip for more than 4 hours, I have gotten terrible ankle swelling and such a heavy feeling in the legs that I could barely walk. We even stop and walk around, and I always need the restroom because of a overactive bladder so I guess its just something I have to deal with. As soon as I can sit and elevate my legs I feel so much better, and my ankles go back down to normal size again. I am on Gleevec. > > > I am on Sprycel, but I seem to have trouble > with my legs these last few days.
