Guest guest
Welcome back, Stan. You were missed. My son is a six year old tough nut. It appears to us that he is a Nonresponder to Valtrex. I would appreciate any thoughts on this. He has been on Valtrex since March 23rd. He has been on 500mg twice a day. We have not seen a cough, a rash, or a regression. The only blip we have noticed is a little mild fatigue about a week into the Valtrex trial. The fatigue lasted for two days. We changed nothing else during this trial. A week and a half ago, we increased the Valtrex dose to 500mg three times a day and nothing, nada, zip. Background : We have not done a viral panel. Our son is nonverbal and not potty trained. He attends a private, full time ABA school. He regressed into autism at 11 months old. At that time he began walking and stopped talking. Approximately two months before he regressed, he caught “hand, foot, and mouth disease” per our brilliant pediatricians. He was quite sick during this illness. He ran a high fever and had red blisters in between his fingers and toes and down his throat. Since it appears he is a Nonresponder to Valtrex, should we drop it and continue on with the next therapy? Or should we continue on Valtrex as we explore our next therapy?
