Guest guest
I had a hip replacement last November for necrosis related arthritis in my right hip. The surgeon had had three pos people before me who came through the replacement very well with only one getting an infection which was treated and he is fine now. This particular surgeon was very knowledgeable about this condition, however I'm sure he's a rarity. The operation was only an hour and I was home in 3 days. I was off the walker before I left the hospital and I had PT at my house which my insurance paid for. I spent a couple of weeks with a cane and was back in the gym shortly after that. This problem started over 10 years ago and it took this long for the pain meds to stop working. I should mention that I trained for this operation, just like I trained for the quad bypass I had almost 2 years ago. This means I was in the gym at least three days a week doing core exercises and lifting weights so that my recovery was fast. I cannot stress enough how much this helps. And if vanity is preventing you from getting your butt cut open the scar is only about 6 inches long and they used dissolvable sutures and tape so the scar is smooth and the redness is fading fast. In just 10 years this procedure has become common place and the materials used vastly improved. The best part is the pain is gone.

Guest guest
Betty has been suffering pains in both her hips for a long time. Work was done to her spine thinking that was the reason, but it wasn't. She had both hips checked and no reason found. It seems common to not know or find reason for pains, but since you fell, it's more likely that a reason and fix can be found. I sure hope so, we go through our 'later' life battling pains. I hope yours is taken away. Dennis in eastexas- 7 radiation treatments left (I hope)! On Mon, Dec 7, 2009 at 4:30 PM, thestitchartist <angela@...>wrote: > > > Hello Everyone. Guest guest
, I've only been having problems just over a month now, My primary thinks RA and the rhuemy is being very thorough so its a wait and see thing.---Anyways my hips are one of my major pain places. I cant stand/walk well, sit for very long, and even trying to sleep--which I have been exhausted over this last month when this all started--I just cant get comfortable, hurst to lay on any side of my body uuuugh. I did fine that biofreeze does help take the rest of the edge off the naproxen isnt doing. I will pray nothing is fx or further damaged from your fall. shawna May all your ups and downs in life be with a needle and thread in TN
Guest guest
Hi Dennis: I have missed you posting, and was thinking about you and your treatments. I am happy you have 7 left, and hope things go better for you. I pray the treatments have done their job, and you will be cancer free. I was sorry to read that Betty is suffering so much with hip pain. I hope her doctor will be able to help her with meds. that can ease her suffering. I know how much pain is wearing on all of us. You both deserve a break from all this, and I hope you will both be pain free soon. I hope your treatments have not made you too sick. Looking forward to hearing some good news about the 2 of you. Guest guest
, I tried posting last night to your questions. Yes, RA can affect your hip joints. RA can also cause pain in secondary causes, septic hip (which you probably don't have), the -itits's, bursitis, tendonitis, etc, and as referred pain from your spine. I've have all of them over the years. Since you are getting pain going down your leg, I would ask your doctor to have a MRI of your lumbar and cervical spine as well. While my hips are fairly okay, my spine on the other hand is a mess. Even after two surgeries, and a couple of more due in the future. I have/had spinal stenosis, and many bone spurs on my vertebrea. So yes, there are many of us with hip issues. Just keep after your doctors > > Hello Everyone. I haven't posted in a while, but was wondering if anyone has had severe pain in their hips? My hips have been bothering me for a while now - both bursitis and in the joint. About 3 weeks ago I had a fall. My right leg/hip buckled and " fell out from under me. " Ever since then I have had excruciating pain in the joint, down the back of my leg, in my knee joint and ankle. My Rheumy did x-rays and couldn't find anything, so I am having a MRI on Thursday. I am very worried about my hips since this can cause major disability. Thanks everyone for the information. > in TN >
Guest guest
Hi Bobby: Odd that you should mention that hip problem. I do have Arthritis, and my left knee is very bad. Past few weeks I am having pain in the left hip, and it goes around into the back of my legs. I also have it in the groin. I have trouble getting up in the morning or from a sitting position. Then if I can walk finally, I can get a little relief. Not sleeping good either. I am on my Gleevec, and I do not take Tylenol as they told me. Then I have kidney problems, and was told no Advil (Ibuprofen). I take nothing at all for the pain. I just suffer with it. Everything locks up on me until I get moving. This is good to for everyone to share these things. You start to feel What Now?? > > Hi, who has hip problems? the other day I got out of bed and had hip pain, but it was gone by noon so I thought I just slept wrong. Next day, got up, hurt all day and could not sleep well last night. today, the same, can't sit, can't lie down, and can't figure out how to sleep standing up! I have an apt. tomorrow, am hoping it is not REAL serious.
