Guest guest
Hi Tammy, I hope you do well on Tasigna. I have been on it for two years. I was taken off Gleevec after 4 1/2 yrs. due to ascites and pleural effusions. Once on Tasigna, that all went away. I became pcru for the first time a month of two after starting Tasigna, although I had been responding very well to Gleevec and my levels were very low to begin with. I'm still prcru. My fluid retention is gone and I no longer have the swollen eyelids I had on Gleevec. Recently, I discovered that my cholesterol level has increased, but other than that, the side effects have basically been almost none. Good luck, but remember the fasting times for taking your Tasigna. No food OR drink (except water) 2 hrs. before and 1 hr. after taking the meds. That means a 3 hr. fast twice a day. It's not always easy, but you'll work it out. I find that for me, the schedule works best if I take my drugs 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. or as close to that as possible. That way, I can eat breakfast, eat during the day, and have dinner at a normal hour. I do not eat anything after dinner, then take the meds around 10 p.m. It probably cuts back on some of my former snacking habits....which is not a bad thing, lol! in NY
