Guest guest
Hi , would he be angry if you suggested he contact Dr. Druker or Dr. Talpaz for their opinion? If he got angry, then you don't need or want him. It seems to me neither of these doctors keep doing bma/bmb's once you are pcru, unless you are in a trial. Bobby a ( Bobby ) Doyle, dob 12/17/29 DX 5/1995 Interferon 9 weeks/Hydroxyurea 5 years 02/2000 to 06/2002 Gleevec trial, OHSU 06/2002 Gleevec/Trisenox Trial, OHSU 06/2003 Gleevec/Zarnestra Trial, OHSU 04/2004 Sprycel Trial, MDACC, CCR in 10 months 04/2008 XL228 Trial, U of Mich. 01/2009 PCR 5.69 04/2009 Ariad Trial AP24534 09/2009 PCR 0.01 11/2009 PCR 0.034 02/2010 PCRU #840 Zavie's Zero Club From: A <suzzienovember@...> Subject: [ ] Getting BMB when you are PCRU Date: Tuesday, May 25, 2010, 1:55 PM  HI: I am bit frustrated right now, due to a new Oncologist who took over my former Oncologists Practice due to his retirement. I have been PCRU for quite a few years now, and have been monitored with the PCR Testing and routine blood work. I saw this new doctor one time, and he wants a BMB. He has no reason to put me through this at this time, and I am refusing it. He will probably drop me from his care when I see him. I would like to know what others are doing if they are PCRU. My former Oncologist told me he could monitor me through my blood work, and he would know if a BMB would be needed. A
Guest guest
I have not had a BMA for almost three years. Once I reached PCRU I did not ever have one. Thank Goodness!!! Guest guest
Thanks Sharon:Â If you read what I wrote back to Zavie's question it makes it all that much clearer. Guest guest
Hi Bobby: Read my reply to Zavie. I already contacted Dr. Druker. Guest guest
Hi Bobby: I lose some of my messages that I return, but basically I already contacted Dr. Druker myself, and he told me if I was PCRU that I could be monitored in my PCR and Blood Work Testing. He said exactly what my old Oncologist said. He said there would be some changes showing in my counts to give a warning of something going on. He said he would not put me through a BMB if I was stable. This new doctor is trying to prove something with rushing me into a BMB after just meeting me for the first time. I think my mind is made up to switch after I get this next PCR Test. Thank You for your response. He does not know standard protocol for following a stable cml patient. Either that or he wants to practice doing BMBs....and he thinks you give him that opportunity. Either way....I would not stay with him. When you know more than your oncologist, what does he bring to the table for you? I would look for someone with more experience, and someone who would be open to hearing what you know....you are more experienced in cml than most local oncs will be. C.
