Guest guest
Thanks Pat _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of phoenixpat Sent: Thursday, May 13, 2010 11:03 AM Subject: [ ] Sharon's Question: What else is Gleevec used for? Hi Sharon - I don't remember the exact words that Dr. Oz used. The impression left was that Gleevec is used today for multiple cancers, but it would be more accurate to say that several clinical trials are underway. There are medical journal reports available on trials involving other forms of leukemia, breast cancer, small cell lung cancer and even arthritis. One way to find more information is to search the medical literature for reports on the clinical trials for Imatinib. Hope that helps! Gleevec is the treatment now for this cancer and has been fairly successful. The first dark haired lady to speak on the Dr. Oz program about her own experience was a GIST patient, who said she had just had surgery and was not expecting to live....and now she says she is living a normal life. There is a GIST website and those folks are mainly on Gleevec. C.
Guest guest
Thanks, . I thought the group would be aware of GIST use so didn't mention it.
