Guest guest
, I completely understand what you are saying. No worries at all. : ) There was no reason for you ladies to question the Dr.. I am aware of a few cases (both hospital and home health) where staff told patients they were out of Gamunex because " there was a shortage " . I know one mom who called Talecris (maybe she'll chime in here) because her home health said they could not get Gamunex due to a " shortage " . (Turned out her home health was passing the buck. Maybe there were incentives for pushing her to another product? We'll never know...but she did eventually get Gamunex...by calling Talecris and doing some advocacy.) It is true that production may have declined in the recent past. (I don't know the whole story.) However, it is important for us all to be aware that there is a difference between a true SHORTAGE v. OUT OF STOCK. Just another thing that we, as parents, have to tease apart... If this ever happens to anyone again, and you're being told to switch products, I'd encourage you to do a little investigative work...call the pharmacy and manufacturer. (Thankfully, there are excellent products out there, if you must switch). mom to Dani, CVID
