Max my 2year/old, will be starting IV iron tomorrow. (We saw the hematologist

today)

Has any of you had your kids on IV iron? If so were there any side effects or

reactions?

They told me that they dont pre-treat and the infusion will take a couple of

hours.

Also Max could be starting Neupogen soon too. Did any of your kids have any

problems with that as well? Reactions? How well did they tolerate it? Max's

ANC's arent terribly low 600-800 but the hematologist is concerned because of

his high lymphocyte count and and his percentage of neutrophils compared to his

total wbc, and his frequency of infections that could be related to his low

neutrophil counts.

We were given really no reason as to why he is doing what he is doing. The

hematologist does have plans to do a bone marrow biopsy once we get the iron

deficiency corrected, or sooner if need be.

my other son who is 11, has had issues with neutropenia, but more on a

leukopenic basis in turn making him neutropenic. So Max's issues are different.

is on IVIG where as Max is not and there is " debate "  as to where he really

has problems with his immune system or not.

Thanks advance!!
