Guest guest
Savannah,10, CVID/asthma, we've noticed problems with joint pain.....this has been since toddlerhood, but it goes away, sort of, then comes screaming back. This last yr has been awful. She also gets stomach aches that havent been figured out yet. Like, the type of stomach ache, that, if you didnt know it happened all the time for her, you'd think her appendix was about to burst. She cries, screams, cant eat, cant walk, sleeps intermittantly, can last for days. Ive been sort of journaling this, bc we're trying a few new avenues....first, a new allergist, looking at food allergies being a possibility. Next, if we dont succeed there, looking at rheum. for her. A couple times, duriing these episodes, her SED rate has been slightly elevated. Its struck me recently, that the last several times this has happened, has been almost immediately after something like.....a sleepover. camping. a party. most recently, vacation to FL, w/ theme parks, lots of walking, less sleep than usual, more junk/fast food. I was wondering, if this could be a reaction her body is having bc of getting less sleep/rest.....eating things she probably shouldnt.... being so excited/wound up, having much more activity than normal? Anybody elses CVID kid do this? I want so much to figure this out. Im so sorry for her, and cant figure out how to help. We see the new allergist tomorrow. She had so much fun during the trip....then on the plane(she doesnt have motion sickness, she loves flying) she started with the typical stomach pains. She was an aisle over from me, and one seat in front of DH, so neither of us could really get to her, physically. She squashed down in her seat and slept a bit. Woke up vomiting all over:( She was so weak, I had to push her through the airport in a wheelchair, to get to our connecting flight. She puked all during the second flight, and in the airport. The pains in her stomach were so intense, she couldnt stand at all. She woke through the night screaming about her right hip having pains. this morning, her hip was no better, and she spiked a fever(101.5) that has lasted all day. She cant eat, or even move, her hip hurts SO much. We tried ice and heat. She's been sleeping almost all day, and is now in bed. You might think it sounds like a stomach flu, but its not. this happens all the time. If its not her hip, its her wrists, or ankels, or knees. this is just not normal. and no ten yr old could fake this. She wants so much to make it to school tomorrow.....there are only a couple days left, and she wants to do the parties, field day, hang wtih friends. Im just so sad that her life is like this.
