Hi  Jackie, wow, I am so sorry  Ariad didn't do the trick.  You are very

courageous, and I wished I lived there to be able to pitch in and help out.

You are on the top of my prayer list, which means, you have always been there,

only you have been moved UP. Get lots of rest, think wonderful thoughts, and

when you feel up to it, keep us all posted.  Love, Bobby

Hi to all,

It is official, now is a good time to proceed with transplant.  The AP24534

drug is working, but not without side effects. I have had to receive 3 red cell

transfusions since May 1, and this is at the lowest dose permitted.  Dr. Cortes

feels that since I have responded some, 4 out of 20 normal cells, it would be an

ideal time for a successful transplant. I spoke with Dr DeLima, the BMT dr at

MDACC, yesterday and he also agrees with Dr Cortes. Since I am still in Chronic

phase, the transplant will be a Mini transplant. Hopefully, it will be enough to

get me to the ultimate " remission " .  My sister, the donor,  is a complete

10/10 match.  I don't have dates yet. My employer changed our insurance 7/1/10

so we need to go through the approval stages once again. My goal, is to be home

by the Holidays!! Yes I know, winters in TX are much better than in Iowa, but I

won't be heartbroken if I miss out on some of that warm weather.

Working out a schedule for caregiving will be the next step. I don't want anyone

to have to spend so much time there at once.  If anyone has suggestions, please

let me know. This is crucial to a full recovery.

God Bless to you all,

Jackie S.

Hi Cheryl,

Do you have a date yet? We will cheer each other on through cyber space! You

were waiting for insurance right? Did they approve it for you? Mine is working

on it, but I dont anticipate any problems with me going to MDACC, even though it

is out of network.  I hope you get the hospital of your choice. A 9/10 is still

good. Someone said that MDACC was the only facility that required 10/10, others

do very well with 6/6.  And I know you will too.

God Bless. Praying for you.
