Guest guest
Hi : The things you need to consider is how you would feel taking 400mg. at once. Some people do not tolerate it well. I have been on 400mg since I started in Oct. of 2000. 400mg is the basic dose. Price wise is another consideration. Are you paying less for the 100mg tabs. I like taking my 400mg all at once. Its easier because I am done for the day. I do need food in my stomach before taking the pill to prevent nausea. Myself,I would not want to worry about what I am eating 4 times a day. Sometimes you just do not want food maybe when your due for the pill. Every individual is different in how they metabolize their medication.    Was there a reason for doing the 100mg. 4X a day instead of the 1 400mg. pill?    You will have to talk about this with your doctor. Hope you get it all figured out to benefit you.  A. Guest guest
Hi , I always take all 4 pills at once. So it doesn't bother me side effect wise. When my doctor prescribed 4-100mg a day because if I needed to come down the dosage because of extreme low white count, we could adjust the dosage. It had happened once to me that he wanted me to take 3 pills instead. But my count now stablizes at 400mg. So I wonder if I should just take one 400 mg pill instead. I think I will call my doctor office tomorrow. Thanks. > > > > Hi , > > > > > > > > I have been on Gleevec for 2,5 years. Guest guest
 I would check with the doctors office. My WBC has gone to 3.5, and bounced back again. I usually run in the 4 range on average. From: Y <cy_butterfly3@...> Subject: Re: RES: [ ] Gleevec 100 mg or 400 mg pills Date: Monday, September 13, 2010, 9:04 PM  Hi , I always take all 4 pills at once. Guest guest
I am one that went from 4x100s to 1x400 because the insurance company would only pay for the 1x400. I was not tolerating the 1x400 because the side effects were much more intentsive. I was able to qualify for the VA RX program and they put me back on 4x100s and in about 3 days all the side effects reduced back to their previous levels. I was offered the option of going back on 1x400 but I declined. I believe in my case that my body did not react well to the increased jolt of the dosage being more concentrated in 1 pill than the absorbation of 4 pills. Because every body reacts differently to the medication, I believe my experience can only be used as a possible result. I hope your decision works well if you decide to do the 1x400. Guest guest
Hi , I am on 4x100mg since my diagnoise in 2006. I have the usual side effects like fatigue, thinning and pale skin, muscle cramps, water retention (but I also take spiro which helps to remove extra fluid). So my side effect is acceptable to me. From your experience, 400mg pill will give more intense side effects. I think I will keep my 4x100mg because I don't want to switch and need to switch back. It is a pain to deal with insurance approval, doctor office and pharmacy. My white count stabilizes at between high 2.0 and low 3.0. > > > > > > From: Y <cy_butterfly3@> > > Subject: Re: RES: [ ] Gleevec 100 mg or 400 mg pills > > > > Date: Monday, September 13, 2010, 9:04 PM > > > > > > Â > > > > > > > > Hi , > > > > I always take all 4 pills at once. Guest guest
All,  Please Remember: The key to little or no side affects is to drink plenty of water. My side affects are too low to count. I enamore myslef with water (and thats a person who doesn't drink water)... Stay thirsty my fieneds.  Remember to smile at people, someone may see you and return the favor!  Keyon From: Y <cy_butterfly3@...> Subject: Re: RES: [ ] Gleevec 100 mg or 400 mg pills Date: Monday, September 13, 2010, 9:04 PM  Hi , I always take all 4 pills at once.
