Guest guest
I read somewhere that ginger was good for drawing toxins out. put a tablespoon in the bath, don't know whether it would work for this though. natural Cures Sorry I can't help - but I would be interested in whatever you learn. We are currently battling this, my husband is also a construction worker, sweats all summer, and alway gets jock itch on his inner thights, buttocks, and sometimes back during the summer. He also has fingernail fungus, and the skin just peels off his hands and feet all winter. Its positively awful, we tried the prescription, but it just came back, and with the side effect of liver damage, its not worth doing more than once! Now I have candida overgrowth in my system, and we are a yeasty mess! However, I think the main thing my dh has to do is STOP DRINKING BEER and I can't get him to do it! Its like a religion to is family and freinds, and if you dont' drink beer you're a wimp or there is something wrong with you. When I even mentioned cuttingo ut the beer, he looked at me like I askedh im to cut off his right arm! Not to mention the cured meats, pickled this-and-that. > I have a question for those of you who are familiar with natural cures and oils, etc. (for I'm dumb as a post when it comes to that stuff but I'm wanting to learn badly): > > My husband has always had a problem with fungus on his skin and has to go to a dermatologist at least once a year and get salve and / or pills to help. It shows up on his back, face, and upper inside of his thighs. It is made much worse with hot weather, and since he is a roofer, it gets bad every summer. Is there something he can try on this because it makes him miserable??? > > TIA >
Guest guest
I have heard for years to stop using Microwaves - it does something to the structure of the food. Its best to cook everything in ovens or on top the stove. Fast food of course can be devoid of much good nutrition, who knows what the processing is like before they turn the food out to the customer. Years ago I had to do a study on Mc s. One hamburger bun had 6 tbsps of sugar in it, the french fries were dipped in sugar as well. Lots of sugar and cola's have lots of sugar as well. Don't try to save yourself sugar by purchasing a diet drink. Its worse for you, Aspartame, Nutrasweet, etc are Exicotoxins - with wreak havoc on the body. It breaks down into Methanol - Formaldehyde -- effecting the central nervous system, and the myelin stealth - covering of the brain and spinal column. YOu can learn more about Exicotoxins - google search it and look for Blalock book about it. The Omegas are a better choice in fats. I do think its better to work with someone who understands herbs - than just diving into it without knowing side effects. Anybody ever read this book? GREAT BOOK and makes me realize that we need to STOP MICROWAVING FOOD, FAST FOODS, killing our kids and to stop using medication and use Herbs... What all do u think? Green Tea and such.Omega 3s.... Guest guest
Hi Therese, If your kids are basically healthy and this bug is the first time they have been sick, it might not take the full homeopathic appointment to find a remedy to help them get well. However, if they are always coming down with something, that would mean that the full process would be needed. The reason I make the distinction between the two situations is that I DO work with people, even people who are not already my patients, if they have a one-shot ailment like a cold, flu, etc. and I have had some very nice results. Croup is something that will respond very nicely to the right remedy. Sinusitis, sinus infection is a bit harder, but still possible to get good results. And while it is easier to if I am able to see the sick person or child, I also do this kind of work over the phone. Very few homeopaths do this one-shot approach (probably because it is very hard to find the right remedy for someone you don't know. But I've had lots of experience at this. Plus I know, having used remedies on my three kids, now adults, what a good remedy can do, especially for a child.) I find that many times a person just needs a bit of help and then they are fine. Whatever approach you use, and you have several good suggestions on this list, you have my sympathy and best wishes. There is little that is harder on a mom's heart than having sick children. They are on their 3rd week of being sick. And Rohan has been teething on top of it all. Long story even longer, He said that Serena had Purulent Rhinitis (sinus infection?) and Rohan had the croup a little bit. The treatment for Serena is antibiotics and Rohan is steam or if it gets worse, steroids. Does anyone know any natural cures? I found a couple of things online for croup, but the rhinitus is trickier. They have about a million types of sinus infections and are very loose about their definitions and treatments. The treatments are anything from antibiotics to surgery!! I have been on the waiting list to see Dr. Hruby (listed in our files) for about 10 months!!! So I'm not sure what to do right now. Guest guest
Anne, Thanks for noticing and mentioning my website. About 40% of my patients in both MN and WI are kids. Some homeopaths don't work with kids (because they get sick at inconvenient times!) But if you can help a child live a healthier life, what a gift you have given them. Guest guest
Therese, I wonder if you could get in to see a homeopath. Homeopathic Practitioners is where I go. I know it can be hard to get a first time appointment last minute anywhere, but it is worth some phone calling around. I go to a classical homeopath ( Sommerman) and they have several classical homeopaths in their office and perhaps one would have an opening. Their phone number is: 952-224-9292. They are located in Edina. Perhaps just explain your situation and see if they can fit you in. It may be expensive for a first time appointment, but in my case, it has been well worth it. I have been able to totally avoid antibiotics for bladder infections. My daughter has taken them for strep throat and for bladder and kidney infections. We are now on constitutionals and rarely get anything. Just a thought............. Also, I'm wondering about seeing a naturopath....... Dr. Hruby is excellent. I'm sorry you haven't been able to go in to see him. He is great as he is an osteopathic physician and a classical homeopath, plus he is a great advocate of traditional foods. I recommend staying on the list. I hope you find the help you need and that your kids feel better really soon. ----Judy

Guest guest
Lots of green smoothies. I need very few supplements now. Still gray. I have a feeling that some gray hair is genetically unavoidable. And some is from nutritional reasons. Guest guest
Dear Zavie, You are right to observe the disclaimer. There are people in this group who do believe in natural medicine and I posted it for their benefit. There hasn't been exactly a plethora of information being posted, so I thought it might be interesting to post something different and unconventional. Some believe in combining the two, I leave it up to the individual, while respecting their right to their beliefs, just as we respect different religions. I know where you stand on this issue, and when you speak everyone listens, because you have been at a place where angels fear to tread. You have been so generous to respond to our members, giving them reassurances that they are on the right path or steering them away from dangerous ideas, and of course you are known as the Zero man. Who does not want to be on your list? We have got to get you a cape. LOL Aside from your CML volunteering, you do many other things for which you do not expect praise and adulation. You have a dedication that you put in high gear and I think everyone can appreciate what you do just for this group. Your opinions are valued and respected and when we get out of line, you are there to move us back in the right direction, not to mention the doors you have opened for people to pass through who would have otherwise been denied entry - you have saved lives. Guest guest
Did I understand correctly - you put sage leaves in green smoothies to get plaque off of your teeth? Fresh sage leaves? Have you tried a paste on your teeth? I only have dried sage. I walk and the closest grocery store sells a tiny bunch of fresh sage for $5.00 - too expensive. I don't drive so can't buy fresh at the farmer's market or other similar places. Can't grow any because I live in a small apartment and have mold allergies so no inside plants. Could I make a paste out of dried and ? and use it on my teeth? Thank you. > > do any nutrients or do green smoothies help restore natural color to hair > ?! > > I'm using sage leaves to get plaque off teeth and it works really well !! > Leaves (pardon the pun) your teeth feeling nice and clean and smooth. > Feel like it made a difference w/ gum inflammation too. > > > > >
