Hi Mel: I never heard of anyone getting this from Gleevec, but I do know people

who have had a tumor behind the eye. Once it was removed they were fine.

Praying you do well with the final results, and please let us know how you are

doing.

I in seven years I have never heard of tumors being caused by CML or Gleevec. I

will be praying for good results on your tests.

Hi All.

I haven't heard of people getting a tumor behind the eye as a result of taking

Gleevec. I do know eyebleed is a side effect. The strange thing is that my

daughter, Robyn, who has been in total remission since October started having

eyebleeds often in one eye. Each lasted for 10 days. Now she has eyebleed in

the other eye, and it seems to be lasting longer. I find it odd that this side

effect waited until after she was taking Gleevec for a little over a year. Has

anyone found this to be the case?

I have been getting eye bleeds over the many years of taking Gleevec. They seem

to run in spurts in my case. I can get a few in a short period of time, and

then not again for months to a year. I have heard of swelling behind the eye

with Gleevec, but not any tumors. You can always get in touch with Dr. Druker

and ask him if there is any data on it.

Hi Sandy:  I was on Gleevec for 8 years before I got my first eyebleed, and

then I got another one only 6 or 7 months later. Now I have not had one in over

a year.  I do not think they can say why we get them, or how often.  Some

people have never gotten them at all.

Thats the thing with Gleevec.  There are so many different side effects, but

not everyone gets the same ones.

Hi Mel,

Sorry to hear about the tumour. Do you know what type of tumour it is?

I'm not aware of any type of tumour that would be related to Gleevec use but

there is a type of tumour that can be caused by CML. It's called a chloroma and

it's a very specific type of tumour which is made up of CML cells. Here is a

brief description of it:

Best of luck,
