Guest guest
What do other CMLers take for Vitamin tablets, multivitams or whatever? I don't take anything as yet but feel sure I would benefit from multivitamins HOWEVER I want to be careful to avoid additives that could interfere with Glivec. Guest guest
Since I am over 55, my ONC recommended Centrum Silver. They helped but I needed several other supplements as well. Guest guest
Hi Jackie: I have been taking Centrum Silver now for quite awhile under the advice of my Oncologist. I also take an additional D-3 and B-12 due to a deficiency. Nothing has interfered with my Gleevec. Guest guest
Hello Jackie, A great antioxidant to take is Coenzymes Q-10, sometimes referred as to CoQ-10. About 100 mgs. I don't post often, due to kids and currently part-time employment. However, I do read many of the email which many new and current CMLer's have posted in the pass, and currently. I was diagnosis in November 2000, and could only get access to Interferon, which was the only choice in Illinois, which was available. During the utilization of Interferon it did just that it caused a damaging effect to my heart, while the antibiotic Levinquin, seemed to cause severe cancer anorexia. Although I survived I continue on Gleevec 400 mgs. but currently with the severe itchy rash, that seems to multiply in hot damp, weather conditions of humidity in the Midwest. For years I have been on CoQ-10. If you go on your google you can asked about this great antioxidant which can protect your heart from the CMLer's therapies. So far, I have not suffered a stroke, nor heart attack, and my oral cavity, inside the mouth gums have not suffered from Periodontal gum surgery! Also, I may take a beaten on this vitamin, which many others in our group have read on Internet false reports regarding Vitamin C ( 1000 Mg's.) of Ascorbic Acid which prevents colds, and keeps the immune system healthier. Two other antioxidant which I believe if one is lactose intolerance, and or gluten sensitive are Probiotics the good bacteria in your flora intestine. However, if you are Greek, and consume the goat milk or goat yogurts, you may not necessary need the Probiotics. Last Vitamin D3, is used primarily in the Winter time in the Mid-Western State, to help the bones in our bodies, prevent them from Osteoporosis. And B' Complexes B-6, with B-12, Folic Acid, Biotin. I don't take a mutivitamin because I am unable to find the really nice ones that the expecting mothers took in the past like brand. I utilize these and the benefits they prevent. All my vitamins are in capsules, to prevent stomach issues. Because I cannot digest meats due to Acute Pancretitis which came on with Gleevec, I use food enzymes of Amylase, Lipase, rotease, Bromelain, Lactase, and Papain. I also utilize a vitamin green drink which helps me move my bowels which contains nutritionally supports blood sugar, colon, Bones, Colon, regularity circulation and adds to my longevity vital healing foods. If your interest in learning more you can contact me privately for more faq's. Blessings to you ! ! ! !
