Guest guest
Dear Lottie, Our bed doesn't have a divider. Its two separate mattresses but no support between them, that I can tell. I've heard the pillow tops are very comfortable too. I hope it helps your back. I go back to MDACC 8/9 - 8/10. I'll have a BMA on the 9th and meet with Dr Delima on the 10th. So hopefully i'll get more dates then. I will keep you posted. Thank you for your concern. I talk to the social worker tomorrow. I hope she can get my name on the list real soon! Have you stayed at the church apts? It will be three of us, so I'm concerned about beds for all of us. We'll make it work, I just want everyone to be comfortable. I hope you are doing better with your pain. I will pray for relief soon. God's Blessings, Jackie S. From: Lottie Duthu <lotajam@...> Subject: [ ] Mattress " CML " < > Date: Thursday, July 29, 2010, 3:10 PM  Dear Jackie, I read your post about your mattress and you seem to have relief from it, but your husband does not. How can that be, if he has control of his side? We bought one a few years ago and used it for a week and returned it. It costs $75 to return it, but we were not comfortable because of the hard frame in the middle of the bed, every time we turned over, our feet would " feel " it and wake up. It was like 2 single bed abutting each other with a separation. My back hurts all of the time and I buy a new mattress every 5 years, but I don't think my mattress causes it because of the diagnosis on my back. I understand for many it does, and I say that whatever makes you comfortable, that's the one for you. Right now I am using a pillow top, which I find comfortable, but it makes my mattress so high it's hard to get in and out. One night I just slid off onto the floor. Next time I am going to buy a memory foam, I tried one in a store and it felt good to me. Anyone use a mattress with memory foam, please comment on the stage of your comfort with it. Tell us how you are doing with your visits to the transplant doctor and when will you be going to MDACC to get ready for the procedure and where do you think you will be staying? I called the Hospitality House and their waiting period is 4 to 6 month for an apartment. The church apartments take a few weeks and the costs range from $20 to $60 a night. You are in my prayers. Guest guest
Hi Lottie-- If you like an extremely FIRM mattress then memory foam is for you. Also, it tends to make me very hot, so that is a consideration--no air circulation or something. It doesn't have the normal " cush " that you would be used to with a pillow top--it is like you sink in and can't move because you " bottom out " or something--I don't know how to describe it--sort of like foam over a brick. I personally did not care for the feeling and the " hot " was too much for me--I am always too hot anyway, even up here in 55 and drizzling Seattle! Guest guest
Dear Vicki, Thank you for that information, and I will keep it in mind when looking for another mattress. I will think twice before buying one. Today that is a big investment, especially for a king sized bed. You also have to consider the linens. When buying sheets, I look for the highest thread count, so I will have less wrinkles and it makes it easier to fold and put away. I fold the sheets and 1 pillow case and then put it in the left over pillow case. I don't have to worry about them falling out and creating another problem. I just tug on the end of the pillow case and it all comes out together. FYI, Lottie
